Default Replacement Sony speakers

Thought i'd share these pics. The speakers are standard Sony OE replacements with polyurethane cones that come with a variety of break away tabs allowing you to get good fixings. Best of all they look near to stock with the original grills fitted. I did the usual mod on the Bass... OE speaker removed and cut down to use the original ring to secure the new speaker. I decided to keep the original factory tweeter as I couldn't be bothered to change it, although a replacement was available. All in these cost approx £100.00 and after bypassing the factory Quadro amp sound fine - bit low on bass, but listenable when cranked up! (PO fitted new head unit with 4 x 25 RMS as opposed to the quadro 4 x 7RMS, but then ran the new head unit through the old Amp bringing the power back down.......some people do worry me!)

Those 4" are 2 way. Did you bypass the factory crossovers? You could spray paint the cones black. That might make them look more like factory.

I was looking at these front mounted magnetic, low mounting depth, MB Quart model RUA 210:

They should mount easy in the 4" spot on the rear quarters.

Yes, I bypassed the crossovers. The silver finish of the cones is not that obvious in normal light - I think the camera flash makes them stand out more. My car is silver though so not so much of an issue! The MB Quarts are always nice, but I was working on a budget upgrade as my OE speakers, especially the rear quarters had disintegrated!

How can you tell if a PO bypassed the factory cross overs without opening up the interior? There were no speakers in the car when I bought it...just holes.

Also, i tried to find those sony xsa 1727 speakers here in the states but no luck. Anyone know if they are sold in the USA under a different model number? Thanks
