Well, the PO found this bra in his attic. I just picked it up from his son-in-law this morning. Wow - I think it look spretty darn good! (Especially right now, since the front is in desperate need of some repainting) Just posting a few pics to look at if you had never considered one of these before. Granted I didn't have to pay for it, but still...
Not bad looking for a $300 car. I really don't like the bra but if you do, thats whats important. I suggest looking into some spacers for the rear wheels. They look like they are deeply inset into the wheel well.
Appreciate the honest feedback. Seriously, if you saw the front, it is missing quite a bit of paint right now. It sat for approximately 7 years outside, and it seems the nose took the biggest brunt of the weather. It is coming together nicely for now. I work third shift and usually drive to work around 9:00PM when it is/getting dark. Once I finish getting it painted, it will help keep all the darn summer bugs off of the front.
You bought the car for $300 . . . . WOW ! ! ! Where in the h*ll do you find deals like that? The car looks like it is in decent shape, does it run? I have never been able to find any Porsche of any type in what appears to be decent, RUNNING shape for that kind of price. Talk about some luck . . . . $300 . . . . $300 . . . . $300. I won't be able to stop talking about that for days. THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ! ! ! MAN!
Actually it runs VERY well. Didn't when I first got it, main problem was some electrical short. Removed all the fuses and cleaned the contacts. Then when I started to turn it over I could hear it was really trying to start. Sprayed in a little bit of power starting fluid, and badabing! There she went. Immediately replaced the TB/WP, windshield (smashed) then the alternator and the ignition switch (which was putting a constant drain on the battery). New rear wheel bearings, fuel filter, rear hatch seal, etc, etc, etc... It recently became my daily driver since I sold my Expedition (has anybody seen those gas prices lately?!?) and the transmission went out on my Dodge Avenger about 4 weeks ago. I'm getting my rims refinished for free by a relative next week. Shaping up pretty well. I guess some folks can brag about the huge amounts of money they spend on things, I prefer to have bragging rights on spending next to nothing on stuff. Thanks for the kind words.
I've not seen that bra before. The flaps over the lights don't look right. How do they work? Do they flap around? The bra doesn't reach the edge of the wheel well and the clips there look like they might do damage as well. Flapping bras can wreck the paint quickly. Of course, yours is bad already, so no harm there. There are far better bras. I really like the two piece that has a separate hood piece so you can open the hood with it on. But hey, you have done real well. Congrats on "stealing" this car and for being handy enough to get it running when the PO gave up.

Bill - When I bought my 86, I received the same bra (sans license cutout, but with "PORSCHE" stamped into the top) from the PO. It was represented as a Porsche accessory, and did have the remains of a 928.xxx.xxx part number on a tag.
You're right - Those headlight covers are a royal PITA... So much so that I cut them off instead of constantly watching them flap above 45 mph. My other complaint was obvious - opening the hood. The overall fit, however, was great.
It's a good piece if you already have paint problems.
I was given the same bra by a fellow lister and it is useful for long trips. Opening the hood is a major PITA though. Colgan makes one with a separate piece for the hood and has no headlight covers.
Looks good to me. I run with a bra on almost all the time. For the same reason as you, the front of the 87 looks like it had acne as a child . I too bought a inexpensive 928 many years ago , not a real pretty girl , but man can she move her *** !!! Good Luck
I had that same bra for my 87 S4 as well as my RX7
Roll up the flaps an tuck them under the elastic loops at the end, unfortunately they stretch and become useless and the flaps truly become flappers, I did the same as TopDown, I cut the flaps away. Those deflectors were pretty good at making debri hit the winshield as well.
$300, you did great.
Bra's are worth their weight in gold IF, they are quality made, fit snugly and the nose of the car is not too far gone. I had my 82 repainted and it was beautiful for a year, but my driving in the fast lane and tailing other P cars through the canyons, just messed it up pretty quick. It still looks good and not too late for a bra. However, since I got the cream puff GTS, I stay pretty far back from other cars and do that with the 82 now also. I have a bra for the GTS that I ALWAYS use on trips. It is.was a worthwhile investment and the car looks damn good with it!
