TV cable pulled to tight
And lets see the cruise was pulled too tight.
I kept reading about adjusting the throttle and tv cable and cruise and finally went out tonight and reviewed my cable quadrant
TV cable was pulled to tight
The cruise cable was pulled to tight
Suddenly idle surge is gone!
I tried to run the car to test WOT problems i have had before but the roads are lightly dusted with rain
Maybe my problem all along has been the lack of total WOT maybe the vehicle was gong to full rich mode and not getting enough air?
WOnt know until i take her for a good ride
But it feels very promising for now

If I were to connect my 928 to Cable TV and drive the car, eventually the TV cable would be tight also.
Sorry that I can't be of any real help, but when I first read this I really wondered what a 928 has to do with Cable TV.... Duh!

If the throttle cable were too tight your idle switch would not work. The cable is supposed to be snug with just a smidge of slack so the throttle seats and you hear the idle switch click. If the idle switch were not tripping, then yes, you would have idle surging. So, it sounds like your cable was too tight and the Spanner test was not right for some reason. Good work finding the problem!
The CC cable should be LOOSE with a good amount of slack. The amount of slack is not critical. Good and loose. If tight, it could pull the throttle off idle too, like a tight throttle cable.
The last thing you want to make sure of is that the segment of the throttle cable to the pedal is snug with minimal slack too. Otherwise, you may get WOT but not fully open throttle. There is an adjustment at the firewall end of the cable. Just make sure if you snug that up you don't lose the slight slack in the second segment to the throttle body and the idle switch still clicks.
So far, what you've described does not sound like it would cause you not to get WOT or be too rich, but it would mess up your idle. So, congrats on that. Let your helpful buddies Ern and Rog give this a close look.

I gotta be careful here. Sometimes I have trouble understanding what you write. So, I hope I'm not just being stupid here and misreading what you wrote. So, when you say your GF held the throttle down and you made the adjustments.....
All the adjustments I mentioned are done with the throttle released, NOT down. After you make an adjustment, your GF can push on it to check that the idle switch clicks, but you adjust slack in the cable with the throttle fully released.
It's cool that you've got your GF helping you.
My wife just stays in the kitchen.
Anyway, since your idle is fixed
, you probably did it right, and I'm just being too literal.
