Crap I'm still laughing. I can just see you...

"Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. Capt'n Tony here in the flight deck. We're next in line for departure, but because of the cross winds we will be using an aggressive launch technique. You may feel a little shaking and a bit more pronounced acceleration on take off, but this is entirely normal (snicker snicker). Flight attendants, prepare for LAUNCH! "

Actually that is almost the breifing we have to give departing Orange County. Its a steep noise abatement climb with the engines ran up from a stop and the end of the runway. She gets up and goes at a lightt weight, i will say that!
Those would be some fun rides John....they would work up a good appetite for some grub and in the evenings!

Probably not. I'd like to string together 12 months of catastrophic damage-free driving before anything like that. The belt failure is behind me, but that stupid oil pump gear episode is still fresh in my mind. Oh well, I'm just being a 'fraidy-cat.

Saw a vid once of a well set-up LS1-swapped '88 RX-7 taking a bonzai run though it. No room for error - it's all trees, guardrails, rock walls, and cliff drops - not to mention occasional oncoming traffic. The 7 was smoking through it all, the pilot had experience and a very firm grasp of his car's dynamics. I got dizzy sitting in front of my computer!

The link is gone, however.

Thanks for the poster Dave!

I'm working on a cheap camera system right now. Not satisfied with the mount, need to do a little more garage engineering, but I plan to take some in-car video as well.

I found a site of a local photog who camps out along the Dragon and takes action shots of everyone who comes through, then posts them - and sells them to you if you like.

Here's his blog:
www.killboy.com

Here's his store (no affiliation):
http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/...ont?b=1&c=04RK

His work doesn't look bad on average. It's gotta be hard to get the lighting perfect on work like this, you only have a few seconds as the unsuspecting subject zooms on by. So there's a range from so-so to stunning.
He does offer a huge variety of products, everything from a CD-ROM to your pic on coasters and t-shirts.

After seeing more pics and vids, I SO want to drive on this road.

I have some in car/out-of-car vid of a 928 89GT doing the dragon. Won't mention any names, to protect the guilty...

If someone can host it, I'd be happy to share. (no time to figure it out for myself)

I'll host it if you want. I can't get it up to the site until the weekend, but will gladly show the world your video.

I agree. I think I'm gonna move up the date on my steering rack replacement just to be safe. So is there a bus that will transport my wife to the end of the road? I'm pretty certain that if I run this course on the way to SITM with my wife as a passenger, I will be added to list of fatalities posted earlier in this thread. Don't worry, she won't let any harm come to the car. She'll wait till we stop before she kills me.

Quick update:
I have reserved my room at the Comfort Suites Airport (140 Cusick Rd. Alcoa, TN 37701). $69.26 is a bit high, but I picked this hotel because many of the other "budget" hotels had a $25 cancellation policyand were within $5 or so in price. WTF? With this hotel, you can cancel up to 6pm day of arrival without penalty. Includes "continetal breakfast" and high-speed internet in the room.

See you there in one month!

I spoke with one of my local 928 guys (Dennis) this weekend and he said he'd join in on the Dragon. So how manycars do we have going? Looks like Me, Dennis, John (DeleriousGA) so far. I've offered to Tony to ride shotgun but he won't know until close to T-time if he can make it to Knoxville - good thing we'll be staying near the airport.

And just a reminder, the hotel is the Comfort Suites. Phone numebr is, (865) 984-9840. Address is: 140 Cusick Rd. , Alcoa, TN, US, 37701

See you there in a few weeks.
