Another vote here in support of brake maintenance. I recall TWO sharks last year were damaged on the Grandfather Mountain run. My own brakes got mushy toward the end, too.
I'm planning on doing brakes and rotors before the trip.

Brake fluid check and bleed.
Tire pressure set for about 60ish F ambient. Unless it snows.
And it won't hurt to retorque them lug nuts.
Don't thinky anyone's lost a wheel yet on the mountains.
Tho there was a late sunday return with a wobbly wheel.
And fasten all loose contents in the cabin and set trays in the upright position.
Ernest (NYC) Going for fresh brake fluid b4 SITM.

I just installed new brake hoses this weekend and installed my freshly painted front calipers. Still need to paint the rears - Sure hope I get enough time to do so. But the goos news is that the hoses forced me to pump new fluid through and through!

I'll be replacing the pads, lines and therefore fluid this weekend even though the fluid is only a few months old. During the last run through the GA mountains I kept getting brake fade so I wanted more aggessive pads for this. She should run like new next week after the brakes, motor mounts, steering rack mounts, tie rods and tie rod spacers. I haven't been able to get all of the cosmetic stuff done yet, but at least she'll be driving like a champ.

I probably out for SITM this year. I wont be cancelling my room at the Best Western until the last possible moment (72 hrs prior). If someone gets left out, I'll post my final intentions to let everyone know if the room will be available.

Hacker,
What about flyin' in? I'm sure someone would want a co-pilot? I can't volunteer that though, as this is about the ONLY 928 event Deb will go with me to, and she's already planning to go along. Co-pilot seat spoken for. But, I think Brad, Clint, and Linda, are traveling as singles this year..... It's just a thought....
