Very soon, with the Help of Matt H, I will be contacting and hopefully getting an alignment done in San Diego at a Firestone store. They also have an alignment machine as you describe, and Matt has personally (as he has this job where he deals with these Firestone stores) called the guy and verified that they will listen to me about the not-lifting thing.

But thats good to know there is another non-ignorant shop around.

Thanks Bill, good to know.
Brendan, let me know where your guy is, as i'm north county like you, and will probably need the alignment when i get around to doing the shocks on mine.
I also need a 4 wheel alignment on my Landrover, so maybe your Firestone store can do that as well.

FIRESTONE IN FASHION VALLEY MALL!

Tell the manager "It's no different than any other car than an independent suspension. You're welcome to put it up on the rack and see for yourself."

They will see a Porsche and try to tell you that it'll be $94.99 'cause it's a "sports car". Have a witty response ready.

Firestone in Mira Mesa worked out. I simply restated no lifting about 4 times, and said everything was new, and it worked out great. Sold that car and have contact with the owner, and its all good.

Sorry to revive an old thread here, but am in San Diego County and looking to get my '79 aligned. Neil mentioned Black Forest over in Kearny Mesa but they no longer work on the "928 series." They referred me to Clarence Brown, but searching here seems to pull up mixed reviews on the place. Any recommendations for an alignment shop in the SD area that knows 928's?

Not sure how close this is to you, but a friend used them on his 928 with good results:
