Not sure what they want for it, but was told "under $1000". I found it in a barn of VW parts this weekend: heads (Complete & assembled), block/web & crank, & a box of pistons/cylinders still attached to eachother. Looks to be an entire long block partially disassembled.
I have NO idea on the bores & such, but doubt it has any damage, most all do not. Though, I have no idea why it was disassembled. It was stored indoors, but is pretty dusty & such & will require a thorough cleaning & such. I can check general bore wear & for bent valves (might have been a broken t-belt car) next weekend. Crank is still in the block with the webbing, but the bolts were 1/2 loose on the web, so the entire shortblock's been disassembled.
I just called them: the condition of the heads will dictate the price of the engine. $900 as it is if the heads are decent, less (not $$known yet) if the valves are bent from a t-belt pop. I'll know later this morning.
First $500 paypal reserves this engine: Porschesolutions@gmail.com, remainder of money to be determined on valve condition: either $400 if vavles or good, or a less amount if not. Either way, buyer is resp. for shipping: engine is already on a pallet.
Let me know if you're interested: I already have have an extra engine, so I don't need two of the exact same motor.

Ok, the only update on the motor I got was: disassembled because a tool fell into the motor, so they were "searching" for it. 99% sure the valves are good, but has yet to peek. (busy day for them).

Ok, 2 bent exhaust valves from whatever foreign object entered the combustion chamber. Appears the entire motor is there, & most everything looks good & "acceptable" for an engine that's sat indoors for 8 years. Price has been lowered to $800 for the entire thing: block/web/crank (bolts still holding it together, but loose), rods/pistons/rings/wrist pins (fully assembled), and the two heads (assembled), on a pallet. shipping not included (of course).

When an engine swallows something and starts pounding it bends valves , pounds divets in the top of the piston also the cylinder head and if you are really lucky like my wifes 79 it then splits the cylinder and large plumes of white smoke erupt behind the car until so much coolant enters the intake it floods out the car and it stops running... That was done by one of the small bolts which holds the intake runner boots.

Well, there's no evidence acknowledged on the pistons from whatever did this, & since both exhaust valves are bent, I'm wondering if the T-belt skipped a few teeth & allowed this to happen. I need to ask for them to look at the piston crowns again. , good point Jim.
BTW: I have 8 good used '85-86 pistons for sale, make offer?
