Default M/T boot removal tips needed...

Hi Folks.

I have begun the repair of a cracked center console cuff that has caused the shifter base plate to pop out (and stay out!). Along the way, I'd like to replace the leather boot, which I have seen for sale at 928 places online.

How does this boot come off? Does the shift stick dismantle or do I have to get the old leather pulled up and off the shift stick?

More to come on the center console...

Thanks and Peace,
Tim

I just looked through Pirtles and Nichols site and could not find a write up. Someone who has btdt will chime in.

the rubber shift **** just pulls up off the shift lever the leather peels off and you stretch on a new boot, the new boots come with instructions.

To get the shifter off the metal part you have to give it a hardy constant tug it will slide off , be careful that you dont hit yourself with the flying **** it will make you feel like a boob, Stan
