But you are right: They probably painted the whole thing and just masked things off. How sad... Nevertheless, it's a neat car to have.

A good PPI, and with positive results, I'm willing to bet it will go for top $$$$. It is going to be interesting to watch . Nine days to go on the auction.

I wouldn't really want one as my only 928 but if you are going to have more than one it's great for that sunny day drive or a summer evening rides.

I am not going to buy the car but for kicks and giggles, does anyone with one know if the frames were reinforced in some way? If not, I could see this sucker folding like an according in the event of an accident.

In my car the bracing seems to be limited to two 1 x 2 steel tubes running front to back under each side. They are welded on right under the rockers.
Others I have seen use a sort of extra wide sill welded inside the car. I think this takes up some of that space between the sill and the seat.
While these methods may keep things from sagging in the center, my guess is they do nothing for torsional rigidity.
Yes, I would suspect that any decent front impact would result in the car folding up like a two dollar lawnchair.

I kind of figured as much. Most of the aftermarket conversions I have seen (of any car) did virtually nothing to reinforce the frame...some did none! I think it would be better to not know, not sure I could drive one that I knew was a frame collapse waiting to happen.

Why not incorporate a rounded and flattened tube to act as a stiffener and roll bar? There is an example here http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...&q=928&pl=true
BTW. I don't think this ones a true Euro. Didn't all of the 16V Euro engines have the twin distributors? This one doesn't.

Twin 'dizzies' did not appear until '84.
According to the fed-plate, this is a 229HP non-S engine.
