Matt,
you should talk to Scott and/or Tarik, they both own cabs and coupes

But you are right: They probably painted the whole thing and just masked things off. How sad... Nevertheless, it's a neat car to have.
I believe the ad says that the indicated mileage 136K is kilometers, and the actual mileage is 86K miles. It is a very good example of a 928 conversion, and a California car to boot. A good PPI, and with positive results, I'm willing to bet it will go for top $$$$. It is going to be interesting to watch . Nine days to go on the auction.

Cowl shake (something that is non-existant in a coupe) is not bad at all. Barely noticable unless you hit a series of RR tracks or similarly ugly obstacle. I have driven open corvettes of the same era that were much worse.
I wouldn't really want one as my only 928 but if you are going to have more than one it's great for that sunny day drive or a summer evening rides.

Tass, thanks, I just wondered. I didnt want to use the term cowl shake, most dont know what it is.

I am not going to buy the car but for kicks and giggles, does anyone with one know if the frames were reinforced in some way? If not, I could see this sucker folding like an according in the event of an accident.

The body shop guys and I (it's being painted this week) have had many discussions and just as many laughs about how little is done to make up for the lost rigidity the roof provided.

In my car the bracing seems to be limited to two 1 x 2 steel tubes running front to back under each side. They are welded on right under the rockers.
Others I have seen use a sort of extra wide sill welded inside the car. I think this takes up some of that space between the sill and the seat.
While these methods may keep things from sagging in the center, my guess is they do nothing for torsional rigidity.
Yes, I would suspect that any decent front impact would result in the car folding up like a two dollar lawnchair.

At least the paint job was "complete"...

I've gotten a nasty scrape from a four dollar lawnchair that's folded up with me in it...

I kind of figured as much. Most of the aftermarket conversions I have seen (of any car) did virtually nothing to reinforce the frame...some did none! I think it would be better to not know, not sure I could drive one that I knew was a frame collapse waiting to happen.

Why not incorporate a rounded and flattened tube to act as a stiffener and roll bar? There is an example here http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...&q=928&pl=true

BTW. I don't think this ones a true Euro. Didn't all of the 16V Euro engines have the twin distributors? This one doesn't.

Only 84-86 LH-jet Euros have dual distributors. All the K-jet Euros (both S and non-S) have a single distributor.

Twin 'dizzies' did not appear until '84.

According to the fed-plate, this is a 229HP non-S engine.
