Apparently for some they are ..."but they're too aggressive for my steep driveway & wife to enjoy, so they must go" ... Just about everything on a car is a compromise designed to appeal to a wide customer base normal usage etc. etc. I have some customers who think a stock 928 rides too rough and many many more who want stiffer suspension.

Hmmm. is it the discs that wear out. (though ive never seen it , even though my 79 race car , for free, came with a real nice slipping clutch. i think you could even start it in 1st gear!
anyway, the discs were not that bad, but the pressure plate i think is the key here.
what do the discs buy you? less slip on out of the hole acceleration.
are they oem type stock replacements, but high friction or something.
so far, no real issues with my stock clutch dual disc set up, made from a new set of discs 5 years ago, a used flywheel conversion kit from 928intl. and my 20 year old intermediate disc from my 84! (from the attic)
5 years racing, and still running strong!!!
(knock , knock, knock!)

Man, you JUST jinxed yourself These are OEM Discs that have been re-pucked for 30% greater clamping force. As the factory clutch engages with the pedal, once these start grabbing, you can feel the revolutions of the engine. There is NO slip between shifts at all, and very, very little out of the hole. I'm putting new discs in this weekend: I think the ones in the car are perfect for racing as they'll hold the factory's torque + another possible 30% or so. I never used them with the turbo, & the reason my old clutch was failing is that my PP was plum worn out: I had to PRY the 3 dowels up to put the 3 spacer spring clips in when removing the PP. (Never seen that before) This is why it was slipping on the drag strip...that & a lousy launch. I'll have pictures of them on Monday.
They're not too aggressive for street driving if you've ever had a performance clutch before. Vettes, supras, HD clutches in Miatas, etc, are all FAR worse than this. It does slip, just proabably about 1/2 of what it did initially. Not acceptable to my wife, 2.20 gears, & her monster speed bumps at her office (her 930 barely clears them).

Ok, discs are out, are still "so new" that the lettering on the disc surface is still completely legible. I'll have pictures (Sterling?) tomorrow as I forgot my camera today (Doh, yes, look to Homer for the proper spelling)
