Brakes on - Radio off

I've been experiencing a weird gremlin with my '82 5sp on a semi regular basis.
My stereo head unit takes its power source from the same connection as the cigarette lighter (which isn't used otherwise). Some days, everytime I step on the brake pedal the radio shuts off, the antenna retracts and then it cycles back on again. Stepping on the brake pedal doesn't seem to cause a voltage drop that I notice anywhere else. The next day it won't do it, the following day it will.
Like I said, weird problem. Anyone experienced anything similar or have any ideas? Do I need an exorcist?
James

What Wally said...plus - this is a classic for the electrical switch part of your ignition switch. Next time it does it, try turning the key back slightly.
Easy $50 fix if it turns out to be the culprit.

I have been using the two part replacement light switch as a paper weight on the computor bar for about six months now.
You would think I would quit whining about sHARk electrics and swap it out, right?
OHhhhh NOooooooooo. Not me!
I'm still tickled with the the latest rendition of Porsches' Electron Boggie ....
When I press the brake pedal the brake lights come on as well as the right front side marker,
And lately, the the right front running light illuminates as well.
When I use the right turnsignal and apply the brakes I blow a marker fuse.
C'mon spark-chasers, join in. You know the words...
Whip me, Beat me
I need love.
Spank me with a Leather Glove
Punch me, Kick me
I need Pain
Flog me with a Silver Chain

James, do you rest your leg against the center console when driving? Could you be moving the console or it's side panel when you go from loud pedal to brake pedal? You could be shorting something or breaking a connection if you do that.
John, I'd guess your problem is a short behind the CE panel or in a harness.

Thanks for the leads.
Matt: no I don't rest my leg against the console & it doesn't happen when I just touch the brake pedal, but only when I push it in about an inch (far enough to activate the brake lights, I assume).
I used to have the same problem when I had my V1 plugged into the cigarette lighter. Every time (on alternate days) I hit the brakes, I'd momentarily lose power to the radar detector & it would recycle - very annoying - so I "hard wired" the V1 to a spare connection on the fuse panel & it works fine now. But it seems I'm getting a voltage drop in the cigarette lighter circuit when I hit the brakes for some reason.
