Default Road Force Balance in DC

Been having some vibration issues above 65mph for a while. After reading all the great recommedations for the Road Force Balance I got one today. Removed the vibration in the seat - still a little in the steering wheel.

What I found making my phone calls. The first idiot wanted $140 for 4 wheels, the second $15/wheel. I got $10 and some change ($42 total for 4 wheels) at "Executive Tire" off Gude in Rockville. Felt bad because it was so cheap so I tipped the two worker guys $20.

All my wheels were out of wack - fairly new tires. I could believe the dealer changed the tires w/o balancing. Don't know if the Road Force made a difference, but at $10/wheel what does it matter if it's fixed.

You may be the idiot in this case? Wheel weights can fall off if not properly fitted to the rim, and a vast majority of tires perform well with standard dynamic wheel balancing.

Improper front end alignment can result in steering vibration like you describe. Specifically, have your car's front "toe" adjustment checked.

Thanks Ernest,

The problem with fixing high speed (well, relatively high speed so far) vibration is no deterent to driving high speed. The vibration was like the speed limit buzzer in my other car (which is never on).

With age comes maturity (not having the need to drive 100mph everyday). I think my 928 is reversing this process. At least bring back some old, being stupid memories.

Hey John,
The hormone stupids were a lot more fun than the age stupids, weren't they?

Ernest,

I can say I've been infatuated with Porsches since 0-60 in 5 sec. (930) was a big deal. My dream was to have a 911E by the time I could drive. And then sell it a buy a Turbo Esprit. What was I thinking?

Anyway, if I had the 911E or Lotus, or 928 back then I don't think I would be here remembering how stupid I was. But if did and made it to today, what fond memories I would have... I would have definitly contributed to the Porsche driver-haters in the world.
