I will be willing to sell them at cost if I can get eough orders to purchase 25 units. I have spent the money to buy the prototype boards and some components already and just want to recoup that to apply to the next project. So at this time the price would be $156.00 usd

If anybody is interested in my skills, I am a senior in EE at Mississippi State University and am a pretty good programmer for uCs (Micro Controllers). I got tonnes of resourses here, alot of neat things could be done for all the switches and relayed components in the car. Currently I am working on a keyless entry for the door locks that open for x amount of time when I come into proximitty (3-12ft) of the car and then lock after that time while I am in the car. Then when I leave the car it will lock after I leave proximitty. I am doing this will a little device that I have to have on my person which is what is detected. Holler if I can help.

Wally, shhh!

I really wanted to have it back lit and was avoiding saying so because then every one would want it that way. It is a little more complicated and I have a solution that will work (need this for sure on the climate control head to light up the button for the buttons that indicate vent locations.). I might have to make it generation 2 or maybe provide it as an upgrade (cheap for those who buy into the first gen ?)

Here is the switch plate installed in the car. Keep in mind that the overlay is going to be Black with white markings (negative of this)

I am also going to have the software programmable (one time at purchase). I will have the customer fill out a form such as this:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Selection criteria:
an asterisk indicates current factory programming (*)
Select one from each category. If there is a line fill in an appropriate value.

1) Rear wiper delay: After 1 press <.5 seconds
a) just wipe once the same as stock *
b) start wiping with a ____ second delay
c) start wiping constantly

2) Rear wiper delay: After 1 press >.5 seconds but < 2 seconds
a) just wipe once the same as stock
b) start wiping with a ____ second delay * (5 second delay)
c) start wiping constantly

3) Rear wiper delay: After 1 press >2 seconds
a) just wipe once the same as stock
b) start wiping with a ____ second delay
c) start wiping constantly *

4) Activating express down
a) press button >.5 seconds * (this allows you to jog window)
b) any button press

5) Activating express up
a) press button >.5 seconds * (this allows you to jog window)
b) any length of up window button press
c) no express close except when using a key in the door

6) Activating express open (sunroof)
a) press button >.5 seconds * (this allows you to jog sunroof)
b) any length of open sunroof button press

7) Activating express close (sunroof)
a) press button >.5 seconds * (this allows you to jog sunroof)
b) any length of close sunroof button press
c) no express close except when using a key in the door

4) Activating all express down / open
a) press two window down buttons at the same time * (this allows you to jog window)
b) start all express after pressing ______ button >3 seconds
c) pressing ______ button and _____ button at the same time
-note- make sure you can actually perform the button press combination you select. (IE if you are going to retain the existing switches you would not be able to press the driver side up and driver side down switch at the same time.

6) Switches
a) A new flat panel switch set* (gives you one extra button)
b) I want to maintain my existing buttons

Rod:

Are you coming to the beer night here in Detroit this Thursday? If you've got this in your car already, I'd love to see it in person!

Thanks,

Rod I understand the motivation for the switchplate - for the extra switch.

It is also possible to add another SPDT switch (a window switch) in place of the wiper switch (SPST) - you can then clean off the face & use an overlay from jager to make it look exactly like a wiper switch - voila on/off factory switch look...

I have done this & it looks fine - you'd never know unless you look really close AND think about it... Option for those who want the functions but want to stay more stock looking.

Rod could that be an option or do you use a different inteface for the touch switches. If I added it - this is what I'd want to do for the look.

Yes I can do that no problem. I do not have a separate interface (to the uC that is). I just have a different connector (would be the same as a window switch). I will add this to the chinese menu selection to allow this alternate configuration.

I will most likely only do this for the first order. Subsequent orders should be a standard software with extra charges for specials (cost of programming each uC vs. having a whole buch done at once).

If anyone has any comments so far please feel free to share them with me. I am doing this for 'us' not just me.

That is imressive.

How did you print the button pad?
can the porsche or 928 be omitted

I bought all new switches for sunroof, and windows... not the wiper but I imagine it is only a matter of time till it fails too.

what functions are lost by retaining the factory switches.

Also my new switches tend to stick. is that common? if they stick then they will probaby cause your controller to malfunction? You mention that your controller overcome some partially broken switches.

Thanks,

LO

How do you want the money...brown bag w/unmarked bills... plastic... paypal... Swiss account/Jamaican Bank? Another question, what colors can the backlight be? As I was going to install Jageng's blue leds on all my panels...but will wait till I'm certain I can match the color as I would want to get your button pad!
Thanks, Ed

THAT is a nice setup...
For the pad, I'd say go carbon fiber for the cover with backlit buttons
Or, just make it look stock with no script :^)

If I had extra money, I'd be buying one for sure, I hate my buttons!

I like the Mercedes-type lock-close function idea. I always loved that on my old Benz, pretty handy!
