There is also an VERY nice one made of aluminium made and sold by 928 Spec & Intl.

They are very important. Road grime is horrible when you need to do work on the car.

I have an aluminum one from Devek. I'm glad I finally bought it. Of course it cost me an AC compressor not to have it one.....but I finally learned why they are so necessary.

Is it possible to retrofit a later S4 belly pan on an OB? Will it help the engine keep cooler?

Yes, DEVEK has an adapter kit for this application. Ron_H (see above) has it.
