Can you wire this unit in at the switch wire in the center console?

Yes - on an earlier model (up to 89) with powered switches - if you can find the room.

The door is probably easier for space and access - not that its that easy to get to...

So I assume that to connect outside the door (i.e. center console), I just splice anywhere into the existing wires going from the switch to the motor?

Yes but you also need a ground. Cut the wires going to the motor from the switches - these go to this module and the module now feeds the motor directly.

The stock operation is that when the ignition is on both motor connections are at 12v (so the motor doesn't run). When you push the switch one or other of these motor lines goes low to run the motor up or down.

This unit relies on the fact that the other motor input stays high giving it a supply to run its circuits from. So it can get power from either of the switch outputs and can also detect the state of the switches to figure out what it should do. It now drives the motor directly. You can use this for the sunroof also.

I don't think this will work with the 90+ controller because it does not seem to drive all the motor outputs to 12v all the time - I need to check. In any case it would be redundant for the drivers side...

By the way on the windows, when I open either door to get in, I can operate both windows. Even before I put the key in the ignition. Anyone else have one that does this?

Cameron-
Since I did the "disconnect" proceedure to get the express up, my windows now work with or without the key. They didn't before.

Hi Eric,
FWIW I bought a Paragon Windows Express for my 84S USA. I didn't want to take off my door panels so I worked inside the console by removing the driver's side kick panel. I followed directions otherwise about the hookup and connected the module and ran a wire to the ground point behind the pod. When I tried the unit the windows worked as before with no "express" function. I triple checked my connections. I returned the unit. Paragon was very nice. They said they installed my returned unit and it worked fine. Full refund.
I must have overlooked something or goofed somehow. My point is there may be a reason that they must be installed right at the window motor as per their instructions.
YMMV

Andrew - do they work with the doors closed? they shouldn't (except after the ignition was on and you haven't opened them yet).

Euro's are wired to have an override so the windows are always active with the doors open. I think this is a good idea - no need for the ignition when you are washing the car and want the windows up/down.

Andrew,

Make sure that you take that into account when you do your supercharger. The intercooler pump is wired into the window hot power wire in the standard install. You will need to find another switched source for intercooler pump power since you don't want your pump running even when you are not using the car!

McK,
I just finished installing the window express just like you did, and I experienced the exact same problem. I emailed Paragon and they suggested that maybe the window itself has too much resistance, causing the safety mechanism of the express to kick in and not continue to move the window. However, even if I lean on the window while I briefly push the down button, it does not continue down.

I think there must be a problem with wiring into the switch wire, rather than right at the motor. I'll redo the wiring directly to the motor (sometime soon, I hope) and post a follow up.
