I feel very stupid. I'm trying to tighten the bowden cable on my 88 auto, and every method I've used to try and adjust it has failed. I've searched through the archives, and my workshop manuals. I just don't understand how you actually get the darn thing to tighten. I'm not sure if the threaded part should turn with the nut loosened and the cable popped off of the socket, but so far it hasn't worked. Please help. AB

"Control Pressure Cable, Adjusting", WSM Vol 3, page 37-115.
Per the manual, you need to "remove the spherical head and adjust it so that it can be reinstalled without strain".
