Default Alternate symbol

No experience whatsoever in TM infringement, but thinking quickly, did a wingding font conversion on alpha and numeric and came up with a prospectively new eloquent symbol:

That could cover it!

Dave,
Those businesses were listed in the letter he sent me authorizing them to use X-Pipe, and no others.

Had to post the word doc, wingdings not supported, but convert "i" and "^" (shift 6) and convert to wingdings..... ^ will only need a copy any 180 deg rotation. I think they look OK.

MagnaFlow calls theirs the Tru-X pipe and Tru-X Crossover on their web site. Do they have this trademark God's permission?? Maybe the Ott-X Pipe or Ott-X Crossover would be legal??? just a thought

Mont's trademark is for "x-pipe."
"X pipes" trademark is listed as dead.
And I got no hits for just "x pipe".

Glimpsing through his 2 patents both lists his idea for the dual in
dual out exhaust SYSTEM.
Not sure if it applies to just the crossover exhaust component.
Didn't this guy also invent the Internet.

Ernest (NYC) S4 with very well muffled exhaust system.

Thanks Louis-

Just realized how much I appreciate the curvacious, beautiful, sculptured, enticing yet utilitarian appearance of the posterior part, of, um, the 928. Oh and the avatar is at my local watering hole.

I'm a bit partial to (preferring) the usage of the first symbol on the .doc I forwarded. Just my vote if it goes down that road.

Best of luck on this adventure.

Why don't we just call cars with Ott X-pipes and drop links "Ottomobiles"?

So... No one can use X-pipe right? So if I said X-pipe or even just motioned X-pipe, he could sue for me using X-pipe? If the x-games put on an event called X-pipe like half pipe than they are in trouble for using X-pipe?

How many times can you write X-pipe in a post about an X-pipe that you can't call an X-pipe anymore, while trying to find out what else to call an X-pipe without using the word X-pipe to discribe the X-pipe in question.

Damn. It would cost $5k to $10k in legal expenses (or maybe a lot less if you've got some connections and/or friends and some documentation that goes back prior to his registration date) to do a good search and have an IP attorney send him a letter than that would close his sphincter permanently. I'll bet he's priced legal usage well below that so that these companies set aside their gut-need to impale him on a spike and make the business decision to pay him off.

What a business model...
Here is the entire letter in .pdf format. This will be interesting to see what happens. Wonder if XX pipe would be ok? How about X-Tube? Maybe EksPipe? This is fun.

He didn't even SIGN the letter???

From what I understand, you cannot call a similar product anything that could be confused with the trade marked name. I believe this means a plumber could create an 4-way pipe for plumbing of buildings and call it "X-Pipe". However, an exhaust manufacturer could not creat an exhaust system and call it "X-Pipe" or anything that sounds like this name without permission (and possibly paying royalties).

I'm sure one of the attorneys here can explain this more precisely, or correct me, if I'm wrong. I'm not an attorney, nor have any legal education and cannot give legal advice.

Default "Ex-Pipe"

"Ex-pipe" has a nice ring to it .. especially to those already through, or contemplating a divorce. As far as infringement, it is a full outhouse run away from ExLax.

BTW, provided this moniker is not yet trademarked, all intellectual property ( ) and associated rights will be signed over to the first vendor that ships a X-pipe to my door

Perhaps this guy was just hopeful you would be so scared of legal fallout that you would offer to pay him for the use of the term and not do any further homework.
