Default Update: Leather pod covers

Hello all,

for those who might have missed the leather dash and pod cover group buy thread, this is a little update to let you all know that the preliminary work for the pod covers is almost done and I will have detail pictures of an actual leather cover later this week.

I took my time with this one because I wanted it perfect. Those of you who saw my past threads or saw the work I did on my own car in person will remember the attention to details that I put in these things and that is why it took awhile to achieve the level of quality I was looking for.

The look, quality and fit is like factory. The French seams are trimmed on the back side to get the exact same look and feel as the original factory pieces.
Once the stitching is done, the whole cover is molded over a form. That shapes the cover to the pod without the need to stretch it.
The leather for the switch cavities is skived and also molded into place instead of being cut into little slivers.

This picture shows a leather piece molded and just put into place. It conforms perfectly even before gluing.

The price for a leather cover will be $325.00 + shipping
If you want me to install the cover for you, I will charge $75.00 for the installation.
The leather used will be the Porsche leather, same as used by Rob for the dash covers as we will buy the hides together.

The reason my prices are lower than others is simply because I do the work myself and this is mainly a hobby for me.

I will also offer custom work if the factory look is not for you. My own work will attest that I am open to new ideas

For those who might have missed it, this is the latest picture of my own project for the back seats:

Keep watching for updates with pictures in the days to come.

Thanks

Paul

Hmmm, no offence there Paul but I'm still not seeing a "site sponsor" tag under your name?

Hi Paul,

I would like you to do my pod in black leather with silver sticthing.
I guess I'll send it to you. Also I would like you to recover my cassette box/center arm rest in black leather with the laser etched Porsche crest.

Thanks Rich

Hey Brian,

yes, my whole interior follows the same theme of burlwood, suede and Ostrich.
The interior is not completed yet and I keep adding details, but it's getting there.

If you check the following links, you can get a good idea of where I'm going with my own interior.

Amazing.....I'm speechless....so you made all of the woodgrain/trim yourself using a laser cutter machine? I'm even more impressed!

Paul,

WOW!! Please put me down for a pod cover in black with installation.

A few other questions: I bought Rob's dash cover/glove box and A pillar covers but have yet to install them. Would you be willing to take on the installation of these and if so, how much would you charge (shipping costs extra)? Also, is there a center armrest cover in the works? I would like to expand the height of the cover and am working on a wooden extension. Would you be able to custom cover this in leather as well?

Good stuff and thanks for taking on this immense task.

People - jump on this now. We may never have another chance at such a nice pod cover.

Paul,
Any chance you will be attending the Denver convention - I'd really like to see your car too...

Thank you guys for all your support.

Just to clarify and put everyone's mind at ease: I am doing this with the knowledge of the administrators and as soon as I start taking in payments, I will do my part to support this great forum and become a sponsor.

Flott: I will put your name on the list for a black pod cover. I have no problem installing the dash cover for you. I don't have an installation price for that part at the moment, but since you are ordering a pod cover, I'm sure we can come up with something that will be fair and satisfactory for both of us

Custom parts like your armrest is what this is all about. Bring it on, those are the things I like to do.

Hey Alan: unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to make it to Denver. As it turns out, I have quite a few pod covers and other assorted parts to make

But the plan is to make it to SITM. If all goes well, I'll be part of the infamous Texas posse

Paul
