A seven pack of 70mm Hydra rockets with my name on them.

Sab the "extra" 37 % of energy over the .454 is very real. The .500 Magnun is probably capable of hunting anything that EVER walked the earth ! Five rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger...

Whoa there big fella!!!

Compared to an African "Big 5" dangerous game cartridge, the .500S&W is actually pretty wimpy.

If you look at an elephant gun round like a .577 Nitro Express, you're talkin' in excess of 5 tons of muzzle energy.

And compared to an M82/M107, even the .577 Nitro is wimpy.

let me tell you, when you fire a .454 Casull with one hand, there ain't nothing wimpy 'bout it...
It'll simply knock you out of your socks if you don't pay attention.
Rifles are a different story...

CWO4man, is that a Steyr AMR round?

If you want insanely powerful for no reason just get a .50FatMac, 20MM Lahti, or 20mm Vulcan rifle. Okay, the Lahti rifle had a purpose, but it also weighs 120lbs so it's not as much fun as the others. AccurateReloading.com is good for some video laughs at skinny dorks with too much money firing elephant guns and long range hunting rifles.

OK lifted from Shooting Times.."that gives the new .500 S&W Magnum a top energy 34 percent greater than the next most powerful handgun cartridge in existence. In practical terms, there is no living target walking the earth that this load does not have the potential to bring down." maybe I should leave T-Rex out of it

LOL, im not trying to diminish your enthusiasm for the truly mighty .500 S&W, i'm just trying to keep things in perspective.

The most powerful weapon i have ever used is this one:

In the right hands that little puppy can make entire grid squares dissapear. <most shiit eatinest grin imaginable>
