Thanks all for the sympathy. I know my family showed like NONE and i got to hear a boat load from them again about the jinxed mobile. I still love it. I called State Farm today and made the claim. I will swing by tomorrow so they can start the work. I will call both Porsche (i do not have a good working relationship with them though and they take FOREVER to get things). Also Rich Andrade told me he knows a top notch shop that can fix it in town too. I sure hope all goes well. The pics are a little grainy, but the 4x4's tail actually bent in lines the hood and peeled off the crest!!! the whole thing though withstood well the impact as neither the bumper or hood moved out of line.
On another note, i am thinking of hiring security like a couple of cruisers with guns and guys in them plus a detailing staff permanantly to baby the car :-D that would help! heheheh

Khaled,
A "good" body shop will easily be able to repair that bumper cover.
I don't see the need to replace it.
If the INS will pay for replacing it, make sure your B-shop fixes it, and then put that extra $1K into something else on your car that is "nice to have done vs. need to have".
If you can strike a good repore with the B-shop, they won't care as long as the INS money is beeing spent in their shop.
Cheers,
Michael

Just as Watercooler said. The pictures don't show enough damage to warrant for new panels. A body shop can easily repair them. This way you'll keep the original doby panels. I don't think it will cost $5000 to repair your car, and even if it did, your car is worth alot more than that.

All,
i think the pics were a little grainy (camera phone). The Hood is definitely a toast as it has linear rips in the aluminum. As far as the bumper is concerned, its top lip is cut (pic doesn't show) i don't know if they can flexi fill it with something flexible. As far as the fender, it was pushed and there is a linear curve near the eyelid. There is nothing i would like more than to keep as many as my original panels on, but whatever it takes to keep it new; i love this car and i have spend blood tears and sweat to keep it fresh (ask my local community). It has cost me $9k to buy 3 years ago, and i have spent around $25k since mechanically restoring it and this year i have spent aound $15k on the repaint and changing all the exterior gaskets and all. Damn i did not know i spent this much ... then again. I hope it is well taken care of by the insurance and does not spend a year to get repaired.
Sincerely,

khalloudy,
I think I was one of the few in a previous thread who told you to fix it, then sell it and find another 928 to break the jinx. Oh well, sounds like nothing but bad luck with this one. Sorry to hear about your misfortune (again) with this car.

Khaled,
Ouch again! What does it take to break the spell...
To the rest of you - you have to understand that Khaled is looking for perfection...hard when people drive into you... but then repairing becomes even more expensive - factory parts, premium shops, replace all seals/rubber, ultra smooth paint...
Khaled - check out "Finishing Touch" in Fountain Hills, since you probably don't want to/won't go back to Scottsdale Paint & Body.

Oh man Khaled, sorry to hear about your 928 getting hit again... although, after that comment about stealing my Design 90 wheels from me... maybe you're creating your own karma
Seriously though, hang in there, don't give up. Your local AZ 928 support group will help see you through this one too. You know deep down in the end, after all is said and done, you'll get YOUR car back and it WILL be worth it
...Unless of course this is all part of a bigger plan to finally get a GT

There's not enough light in the parking area to judge the damage. If the hood scrapes are through the metal, as you say, that is toast. Looks like they clipped the top end of the bumper cover. Even if cut through that probaby can be fixed with plastic welding. Can't see the fender damage. All-in-all, even if you had to replace all three pieces with good used and respray, it's not enough to total.

Hey all,
Called the insurance today and they are coming to my house on thursday to look at the car. I talked to Porsche and they want my business (plus they do a good job overall, regadless of my complaints about their speed of work). Anyways, i swung by, and they looked over the car. Here is the lowdown:
Hood - toast, will need a replacement as the metal was pretty much bent and cut
Fender - apparently an easy metal fix - no need for replacement
Bumper - clipped at the top where it meets the hood, but the tech said it's an easy sand and poly fill, nothing major there. They will sand and try to fix. If it fails, they will get a new bumper.
Total for Hood replacement, fixing bumper and fender .... $5200 all said and done - including a new 3M invisible bra (which are really good - took a goog beating and barely showed it and the paint below it is intact - no cracks - i recommend).
The dealership is ordering the parts right now and as soon as they are in they will call me to bring the car in so they can take it to work immediately. They said 2-3 weeks as no major damage is apparent.
I am putting the new TT and rotors/pads on this weekend and then off to the body shop next week as i plan to go play with the little college girls on Spring Break I think a little screwdriver and barely clad girls will help me forget
P.S. Redpath - i don't think the D90s were bad karma I love them though... they make my car look the way i want it to... almost a GT :-P

Dam that seems high $$ for what they are doing. The insurance company will likely negotiate that price down. I wish I had the bucks to fix up my ride like you are doing. Have fun!
