Default Equalled Brendan's Record Today

OK not really -- averaging 100 over 10 hours is very different from averaging 100 over 3 1/2 hours in 2 sections. But a friend of mine in a 5spd S4 did it today averaging 20mpg exactly. Not bad eh ... he says it was incredible fun.

Well I was sleeping. And, as you know, had a long drive myself yesterday. I admire your friend's accomplishment. Keeping that kind of pace on public roads is not easy, considering the constant awareness needed to prevent face to face meetings with the law. Cheers to the anonymous driver!

Yeah he says it's hard work and takes a lot of concentration, and he ays he saw maybe 10 cars pulled over with the blues. Once he was lasered but had already slowed thanks to his trusty detector, and once he flew up to a trooper at triple digits chasing a black car with collector plates and a supercharger on the hood the size of Alaska, t about 50 yards saw him and had to hit the brakes hard to cruise by the trooper at 5 under.

Heinrich
Sounds like your "friend" is very lucky....very lucky in his white S4 with 19" rims! :>)

Still 100mph = 20mpg is pretty good! If you look at the fuel consumption chart in the back of the owners manual..it shows the lowest consumption at about 3000-3100 rpm...which happens to be about 90mph! I do remember Marc T saying the white car averaged about 9 mpg at 200mph!!

Teaches me not to read the owner's manual.
Guess I'm been driving way under the radar puttering around at 2200 rpm.
Think I still get near 20mpg on the highway.

And congrats to the ticket free high speed romp.
Lucky if I get 60mph average in speed trap laden NY/NJ/PA.

Its even better when you get out and you aren't tired or anything - just ready for more. How much oil did this loan ranger use? Was it checked?

Maybe I'm behind on the story, but can you explain the story of running at 100 for 10hrs, and what the other record was? Not like there needs to be an excuse!!!

Armed with this info and Ron_H's info on fighting tickets (it's good ) - hey just seems like the right thing to do, running at 100/10.

Hey, a friend of mine took his shark out yesterday on a nice, spring-like day, and even tho he didn't average those kinds of numbers, he did see 150 a few times.

He didn't tell me 150 what! Jackrabbits maybe?

What a coincidence! My friend said his shark is so stable and easy to control that he only needed triple digits on his steering wheel too!

100mph-1000miles....that will be hard to beat....my personal best was 100miles-100mph-100degree heat!! Good thing the A/C was working!

311 miles in 2:42 Blacksburg to Baltimore including local roads at the beginning and end, but not in the 928. I'll have to better that in the Shark.
