An attempt to set a speed record in 1986 with a completely stock porsche on the salt flats. And of course it did did set the new record! http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...&q=porsche+928
Hey Hacker (since you started it...) think Marks car, is THE Holbert car ??? You know, not just one he drove and later sold...but the actual "record holding" 928S4 ??
Three layers of different colors of paint (primer, red and then white) , engine number 0004, aluminum cast intake, hand inscribed cams and bearing caps, IMSA director's card under one of the seats, faint stain of the rescue vehicle cross on the hood and doors, 18,400 orignal miles, special computers, and a host of other clues.
but, you never know!

It just so happens I've spent most of the day digging through my 20+ years of photos trying to find stuff for my reception. I finally found the picture I took at Heartland Park Topeka in the late 80's at the first Gamel GT. I have a shot of the Holbert 928 in medical response trim. As soon as I find the power cable for my scanner, I'll post it.
it was a real cool strip job. kind of like an archelogical dig. notice, no side marker lights. all the fenders were, replaced at one time, except one rear corner, and the replacements had to had the marker light holes filled in. There was even the body/chassis work near the battery area, where supposedly a IMSA race car during a recovery of another driver from a wreck, crashed into the rear of the "holbert" car (thats once) . for sure it was a rescue recovery car, it had the big 2' diameter hole in the roof for the christmas tree light tower power cables. one thing i havent done is take off the mirrors off the original doors (im using the doors and rear hatch off my 84) maybe more of the WR setting car red paint in its past will show up.
dont forget the maroon interior.
