Default Coolent leak @ Rear of motor somewhere

Dear All, (1985, 928s, 5.0 V-8, 32v, Auto)

I have been flushing out my radiator over the past month or so (I had oil in the coolent from a crack in the oil line in the radiator side tank...I got that fixed). Today, as I was putting a pan under the radiator drain screw I noticed that water (i have been using straight water here towards the end to flush the cooling system) was coming down at a very fast trickle somewhere at the passenger side rear of the motor somewhere. Where could this be coming from? I am guessing (hoping) that maybe the seal for the coolent drain plug (bolt) may have blown. I have not been down under the car yet (gonna do this weekend). I was wondering if anybody had any ideas where the source could be? Thanks to all for the help, Take care.

Coolant.

Look under airbox at the elbow and block plate in the heads. Look at the crappy ittle hose from the heater valve.

Also, check to see that the 'V' is not filling up and spilling out towards the rear from a leaking T-Stat housing or such.

H'man mentioned the usual suspect. Passenger side could be hoses to the overflow bottle too. Pulling the air cleaner will allow you to look this all over.

Sounds like the heater valve or the hoses attached to it!

Hmm. thermosat housing looks good, valley is dry, no water in the area around the airbox, all hoses look intact...Im stumped thus far until I get under there this weekend and hopefully I can put my eyes on the leak when I am under there.

Hi it sounds like you may be needing a new resivour, if you got oil the cooling system and it had time to go through the cooling system then i would suggest that you replace every cooling line on the car, heated oil will soak into rubber hoses and make them soft then they will start either sliding off of the parts they are clamped to or just start splitting, also replace the thermostate and the little sealing rubber ring in the T state housing, and dont forget to get a new heater control valve and replace the heater hoses as well, G Luck, Stan
