Default 16" 944S flat dish wheels on '86.5

I've liked the look of my 16" dish wheels that are on my 944S better than the dish wheels on my 928. With the different offset the face of the wheel does not stick out as much. And the 928 wheel does not fill out the rear fender completey so I thought the 944S wheel would. My '86.5 wheels fill out the fender more than my '78 but there is still some space in there. I know many people have mounted later style wheels on 928's with success so for kicks I mounted a 944S rear wheel onto the '86.5 928. I wonder if it fills out the fender too much- not sure if it looks good or not. And w/o the flares of the GTS I'm worried it will rub, although I know the GTS had much wider wheels.. Any ideas? As you can see the passenger side has the 944S wheel and the driver side has the stock wheel. Sorry about the poor quality, I converted them to GIF for posting and they got grainy.

While they seem to look pretty good, I'd be afraid that the sidewalls will scrape the inside fender wells on a bump or turning the front wheels in a high-g turn. Just a thought.

That's my concern as well for the rear. I did not mount a front wheel becuase the 928 stock front wheel fills out the fender quite well. And the 944S has 6 inchers up front.

They do look like S4 rears which should work front and rear without any problem with 245s.

They are S4 8" rears and the fronts have a bit more offest than normal 928 7" fronts (giving them a slight dish.) Since people have often put a rear wheel on the front by mistake and have not experienced rubbing I reckon it'd be OK. More front track, possibly some stone chips.

the 85-86 928 had a slide on 23 mm spacer so when you mount an 8 inch S-4 rim you get pretty close to the fender lip since the s-4 had no spacer.

Thanks for the advise all. I did not know these were the same as S4 rears. I don't think the fronts off the 944S will fit though, they will probably stick out too much but I haven't tried them yet.
