Default Radiator options

I took my radiator out of my S4 to my radiator shop since one of the side tanks had a hairline crack in it. The guy told me the tabs did not look in the best of shape, but I told him to try anyway. When he started prying them back with his tab tools, several of them broke off. He said that the side tank had been changed at least once, and the tabs were weakened considerably. The previous shop probably did not take the time to properly pry them back.

What are my options for a radiator? Is there anyway to fix the one I have? How about the Devek or 928intl aluminum rads? The radiator does need the coolers in it too.

Thanks

Byrdman...where are you at in St. Louis ? I'm up in Alton. BTW,,,sorry to hear about your radiator. A new aluminum unit is pricey...But its the route I've sworn I will take if and when I develop a leak. If you want to save money, call Jim Bailey and he can hook you up with a used (but guaranteed) radiator. If you want to do it once, do it right, and be done with it...Motorsports (I think),....offers a beautiful replacement aluminum radiator...as well as Devek, and 928 Specialists. Either way there...you are getting a brand new aluminum "made to fit" replacement.

We have the all aluminum two cooler radiator in stock for $895. It is a very nice alternative to the plastic end tank Behr radiator and is much less expensive for an all new radiator.

We have in stock our all aluminum radiator made by C&R. It features welded on end tanks and metric hose connections for a perfect fit.

Right hand ? , left hand ? our desks are maybe 12 feet apart all I hear is his keyboard and never know what he might be typing. We just want to be sure everyone knows their options when it comes to radiators...and yes we do appreciate the business.

I went the other strange route.
Bought used Behr from the Jim and Mark show.
Took it to rad shop and had them put in both side tank seals.

3 radiator install in 2 years is just a bit much for me.
Learn the hard way that customer support can be real crucial.
And no one does customer support and warrantee like the Mark and Jim show.

Hey Jim B. You finish hacking up that radiator yet?

Can someone clear up something for me? I have been running through the archives and apologize for bringing this up again, but...

The Behr radiator uses plastic end tanks which are held on by bending over clips that are part of the core. It sounds like the Devek radiator side tanks are Aluminum, but are epoxied onto the core. Is this still true today, or has there been a change? Finally, how are the new 928 intl radiator tanks help together? I know there is alot of experience with Devek over the years, has anyone tried the new 928 intl rad?

Thanks

Mike I do. I have had my share of radiator expenses in the past, to the tune of thousands of dollars. That led me to find a local rad shop that was *willing* and able to fix them. It's not cheap and it takes some old-rad-collecting on my part, but it's worth saving all that money. 928intl have an excellent guy, when Shane and I were there, Mark sent us directly to him, he fixed Shane's rad in record time.

H,
Can you enlighten me on how they fix the broken tabs? How much do they charge to fix them?

Thanks
Mike

I believe the DEVEK radiator design has changed. Best to call Susan/Marc and ask them. I'm still running my original rad with just a successful sidetank replacement.
