They are a pretty light wheel compared to the cup 1s I used to have on the car.
Thanks. :-)

Hi Marti,

How are things in Edinburgh? There are quite a few awesome "never been seen" items on your Yellow Beauty! I continue to wish I had taken more photos when I was able to see your car...

These Cup 2's remain my favorites, but that's my quirk...

Enjoy!

That's always been one of my favorite wheels. A friend of mine had a set on his 944.

I bought these from Stan a few years ago, the close cousin to the Montecarlo, split spoke instead of the solid. I don't have a photo of them on my car with the center caps installed.

For sale thread from Stan with better photos:

HRE Partners with GE Additive to Create First 3D-Printed Titanium Wheel....these would be interesting on a 928:

Holy bejeezus! Try keeping those clean!

Cool as can be but I'd only put them on a car with ceramic brakes. Imagine the weight savings!

Looks like someone built them from an erector set or a Lego Teknic. Bet they whistle like crazy too.

Things are good, weather is behaving itself for now with a few dry cold days. We will need to get more time next time to catch up and make a proper day of it.

Hope all is well with you and the fleet, l love both types of GTS wheel. I wonder what 18” versions would look like of them?

@Marti,

I think 18's would look great and give us many more tire options while retaining the "original" look.

If anyone ever comes across 18 inch Cup 2's --- Post it right away because I would love to get a set!

We are in the process of planning another trip to Adare Manor (Ireland), perhaps on one end of the trip I could fly up to Edinburgh for a day or two and schedule a proper visit?

Regards,

Dave

I had a set that bought from 928 Specialists years ago for my '89 GT, and I absolutely loved the look. Beautiful wheel IMHO. HOWEVER, these 18" "replicas" were cast. Made them very heavy and also susceptible to being bent/warped. Maybe good for an occasional driver, but mine was my daily driver. If someone made them a stronger/lighter forged 18" I would love to have a set again. Plus they were super easy to clean!

I also had the aftermarket (Mille Miglia?) 18" Cup 2s on the silver track car. They did look great on that car. However aside from their weight, the front offsets were wrong. Not nearly enough offset in the front - something like 50mm on a 1" wider rim. Prevented good track handling. I think the rears may have been off as well.
Put a set of Panamera S with 60mm front offsets and saw a dramatic improvement - particularly at high speed straights and turning in.
Did Porsche ever make 18" Cup 2's with 60 or 65mm front offsets?

Started to research the Mille Miglia 18" Cup 2 replica's and found a bunch of issues with bending and cracking. There was even a reported total failure at a DE event. While possible to use on the street and for show, and certainly the usage history is the most important factor, I'm thinking the risk reward ratio is a bit too high for my comfort...

Here is a shot of the total failure:

The aftermarket 18's were prone to failure although the factory wheels were also cast but better quality.

They are still available new from Porsche in 17" size.
