Ring seat and emissions test

Should the rings be seated in the cylinder walls before testing for a emission test? If so how is this done whitout current tags?

Dyno? There are a zillion theories on the best way to break in a motor. I think that what this guy has to say about keeping the rings pressed against the cylinder wall(under load) makes a lot of sense -- and it could be done on a dyno.
Another alternative is to get a temporary tag -- in Ca. I think they give you a temp tag good for a month or three if you say you're having trouble getting it smogged.

It take 500 to 1000 miles to seat the rings on these engines. Beware of general advice for iron block engines.
I'd just get it done and see what the results are. The blow-by is sucked back into the engine and burned so the net-net to emissions numbers should be small.
