Default I am unworthy

Today I had my first bad experience with my shark . I lost control of her as I was coming out of a sharp right hand turn, went into a spin and ended up hitting the right rear wheel/rim on a curb. No other vehicles were around or involved, just silly me. And I was only going 25-30mph when this happened. Fortunately (I am choosing to look at the bright side of this), the only damage found so far is to the wheel. About six inches of the face of the rim was crushed. I was able to drive it to Devek, as they are only 15 min from where I work. They are checking the rear suspension for damage as well as the alignment. So to make it up to her (my shark) I have already purchased a replacement rim (996 5 spoke) and Devek is giving her an oil change and TB/WP service as it was just about time anyway.
I feel unworthy of ownership at the moment . Please don't be too harsh in your comments about my carelessness.

Just remember it could always be worse. I am happy for you that it wasn't

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll not make the same mistake again and at least now you know your 928s limit!

Post of picture of the rim.

Steve - if it helps, find a more open area to reproduce it (perhaps vacant parking lot). Recreate the turn/stab it/slide sequence to better understand what happened and how your shark wants you to react to it. It'll be safer, cheaper and keep you moving in the proper direction...even if a little sideways ;-)

It may not have been your fault...kinda. At the speed you mention, there should be no reason for this unless:

wet or icy road conditions
bald tires
uneven ride height
poor alignment
stuck throttle
inexperienced driver behind the wheel

Of course we are all responsible for the proper running order of our cars, but some folks just aren't aware of what that is.

Go get your car checked out an then take a DE course. I have had my 928's deep into sharp corners and would have flown out the window had I not been strapped in...they just don't spin out of control at slow speeds my friend.

I had run through some water prior to the turn, this may have contributed. I have become familar with the tendency for the rear end to "come out a bit" in tight turns, but I had not experienced anythig quite as abrupt as this one.

Your car is oversteering which is somewhat unusual since these cars are usually neutral to understeering. Tell us which model year you have and what modifications you have relative to stock.

Hey, such things are supposed to happen only when women are driving:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/252358-more-proof-that-women-can-t-drive.html

But then again, the difference might be that we damage the front rims...

Sorry to hear about the trouble, and hope you'll get sharkie back soon and in purrfect shape.

No comment. I plead the fifth on the grounds that it may incriminate myself.
