Default engine removal help

I am currently attempting to remove the engine in my 1982 928s euro, auto trans. I have a set of Martin Schneider headers installed. They wrap under just past the back end of the bell housing. Do I need to remove the headers or can I remove the lover bellhousing cover and remove the 4 bolts to the torqe tube? if so what else do i need to disconnect.

thanks in advance, DAVID

I did this last summer, i removed the bell housing according to the manual, ie the upper bell housing, in other words where the bell housing splits. It was tough accessing the drivers side nut near the firewall on my 85 euro but i got it done.

disconnect battery

Disconnect; major ground wire, engine wire harnesses, oil cooler hoses well all hoses, fuel lines carefully, metal auto trans line to plenum, radiator, engine bay brace, motor mount bolts are last. I took the spider off so that the chains wouldn't be hitting them on my houst set-up.

I did mine w/o removing the hood but it would be much easier with it off.

Search for Big Daves threads. great pictures and some laughs, you'll need some.

Do you have WSM? When I did mine, just followed it step by step. After all the preparation, the "pull" just took about 3 hours. Mine was 5speed however. As the extra to tv's directions I would get the fan off, becouse it was a tight fit between the condenser and the bell housing. Yeah, disconnect the MM from the below, becouse if you just disconnect them from the engine, the metal part will separate from the rubber part. (that's what I did, so, get the rack down and get those 19mm bolts). Don't remove the engine bay brace when the car is in the air, only do so when it is on its wheels. You will also need to remove the heatshields, to get to harness bolts. Also, don't forget the ground wire on the engine...

That should be all,(as a plus to tv's directions again)
