Dumpin my S4
Hi all,
I am planning on getting rid of my S4 as I have had no pleasure in its ownership - I am sure someone has jinxed it/me and since the day i have bought it, i have done nothing but make it a top notch car, and i am giving up on it. **** happens to it that is unthinkable (i mean i get it back from full body paint only to get the bumper to crack, take it to the car wash only to get scratches all over, this goes that goes...). Anyways the car is in top condition, it is at the dealership getting the rear qp repainted and the front bumper repainted from paint damage. I don't think i want to deal with this car no more. Anyone interested in it let me know as i just want it gone.
1987 928S4 (auto) Black/Champagne
~180k miles
everything works on it
$13k recent paintjob at the dealership including all new rubber and gaskets (everywhere)
over $20k in receipts in maintenance and cleanup in the past 2 years
about 20k on timing belt/waterpump
all new ignition components, new MAS, new Behr raditatio, I donno.. new everything really, and all the parts are factory Porsche parts downto the brake pads and vibration dampers and vapor shields (who has those )
The car is in excellent condition, maybe someone else will have a better luck wih it as it seems someone jinxed it with me and i cannot live in stress anymore. The car has to GO.
Sincerely,
Khaled

"I just want to make sure it ends with someone who will take care of it like i did". 20K in the past two years?? You didn't just take care of it, your mechanic is still on vacation thanks to the job he did on you....

I am sure my mechanic is doing well from all my maintenance, but he is an excellent guy and deserves every penny (Dan Warner), the car is really not worth any money value, as i said, looking for a good home for a well cleaned up examples of how a 928 should be. Money, i don't really care, i can make more - if it wasn't for the additional pain of seeing it go, i would give it for free (hey i already gave my ex girlfriend a $500k house for free when we broke up.. so i do have precedents).

Why don't you sleep on it ? There is no hurry. You can sell now, or you could just put it in the garage for a while. It sounds really nice. I too have had my spending sprees and disapointments, but time is a great healer of feelings and bank accounts. I would at least like to see you have one great trip, or some excellent photos of you and your project. It takes a lot to get to the point you have taken this car, and you deserve a lot of credit for getting so far with it. LOL. You are due for some.

I had the same crap my fist year of ownership. Thought I would never trust the car again. The last three years have been trouble free. It does get better with time.

Thanks everyone for their support. I just paid for the rennlist membership so Randy does not kill me for this post :-D but anyways i appreciate everyone's responses and the PMs. I will be considering this carefully over the next few days while i await to receive the car back from Porsche. I have a new TT waiting for it at Exotic Motorwerks and i was planning to put new rotors/pads and pull the heads and do a valve job and new TB/WP. I will think about the pros and cons of where i stand. Practically the car is as new as it gets for a 20 year old, and Porsche has a Pod and Dash on order for me, so you can see i have been very generous with it and patient (ask Dan, Yolanda, Rich, Rick, Alan, and any of the Desert Gang that know me... i have spared no dime even on the tiniest bits of plastic nobody cares about!). But the truth is that i am starting to really feel the car was jinxed by someone (i am middle eastern and we believe in jinxing and the power of the eye). I will ask my priest this week about if something can be done, maybe it can make me feel better, if not, the car is out to the best home that can take care of it (money is not an issue, it is like giving away my daughter at this point, just making sure it's a good person taking care of her the way i did).
Sincerely,
Khaled

Jinxed? Man, I'm glad I don't beleive in superstition.
Sounds like you have a very nice car and as others suggested sleep on it. Dark colors will show scrathes alot easier than for example white paint does. Also, car washes are very harsh and can easily scratch up a nice paint job.

I would love another 928. I take real good care of mine!! Just ask Precision Motorwerks. Oh well, couldn't afford the maintenance on two of them. Or could I, second job maybe.....

Talk about bad timing - one moth away from our wedding reception. Even mentioning this to my wife would be bad.
