Like jcb928 said, if it is "uncomfortable" to drive the car, then you should sell it.....
...but I'd like to know what makes it so uncomfortable or jinxed?
If you can afford to fix it up as well as you have and can afford to basically "give it away", then I asssume you are not stressed out about repair costs, etc.
My question is, if it's not stress caused by repair costs, what else could it be? Just the overall bad karma?
I mean, you have spent so much time and money to this point that it can only really get better, no? Maybe you are due for some good luck.
I say keep it and get even with the karma gods! If they win this time, they may never go away.

I say keep it for a while & give it a chance to repay all of your time, effort & money spent with some very enjoyable driving. If money is not an object for you, then other than your thoughts of being jinxed, mom's advice & some recent aggrevation, you have no pressure to get rid of the car. Unless such bad feelings override your enjoyment of the car, keep it a while longer. It is a car with 180k miles on it, so things will always need done at some point. You obviously care enough to want the best for it. But 20 year old cars with 180k miles on them can only be so perfect, less you do a complete frame off restoration, right? You bought it to enjoy, so enjoy it and dont expect perfection.
Sometimes with my car, I have to remind myself that it's a 21 year old car. Not your average transportation at all. My ownership of it is comes down to being partly a hobby & partly what great people I get to interact with here online & in person who share a similar addiction to mine! At times I think of whats been done in the 18 months I've owned it, then what was done by the PO during his 30+ months of ownership... then I think of what all else either needs doing or I want to do to it... then after my brain and wallet stop hurting.... I just have to STOP THINKING & go out & DRIVE IT... and THEN I remember what I LOVE about my Shark!! You cannot put a price tag on the wonderful feeling these cars can give to you, even if its not love in return!!
You've certainly paid your dues with your Shark, give it a chance to repay you with what it does best!

Any nearly 20 year old car with 180K miles is going to have some issues...it sounds like you are a perfectionist and your car is almost there....I would keep it and spend the $$$ for the last couple fixes to make the car perfect....once it reaches that point it will be very cheap to keep and drive! Its tough to keep paying for stuff & other stuff breaks...but man you go to be really close to a near perfect 928! Just park it for a while and don't think about it...in a couple weeks you'll want to back! If you sell it (someone gets a really lucky) then you'll buy another one and start over!

So let's suppose khaled, (even though I don't share your views myself) that it is jinxed... Who have you done wrong? What can you do to make it right? What's some ways you can improve your karma.
again, I'm not familiar with you or your beliefs... just think about it though

Here is my advice:
928s are full of little jinxing djinn and demons!
If you can't live with them, then get rid of the car.
If you want an exotic car, you have to learn to live with gremlins.
You trade a life on the dark side, for the enjoyment of an amazing car.
That's just the way it is. If you want a car with no problems,
buy a different car. Buy something brand new.
It's a trade-off.
You have to either accept the problems, and the cost,
or go get something else... But don't freak out about it.
Just accept it as part of the cost and hassle of owning
an exotic car. Almost all exotic cars have problems like
these...

Another thought....so you have about $33K invested in your 928 + the purchase price.....but honestly in todays new car market, what can you get for $33k....nothing even remotely close to a 928....a better scenario is what could you buy with the money you get out of the sale of your 928!!! A honda civic...maybe?
You just gotta keep it man!!

Here is the way I look at it, and things change as life goes on, that is for sure. I am 35, I bought my 87 now, because i have 2 girls and they will need collage money, etc in a few years, I wanted my baby now, if i waited i may have never gotten it.
Believe me, when you are 50, you will be kicking the sh*! out of yourself. A buddy of mine had his dream car, a 69 Camaro, he had it for about a year, his wife talked him into selling it because they were having a baby, i spent about 3 hours one night over beers telling him he would regret it, he already had it, the money was spent, it is gone, now love it and keep it forever. He didnt listen, now only 2 years later, already kicking himself.
DON'T DO IT!

Again, not knowing what all happened, in what sequence.
In the paint item; I don't know if this is true or not, but I've been told that paint doesn't completely dry/set ( whatever ), for a month or more, after it's been sprayed on. How soon after the paint job, did you take it through an automated car wash? ( And I agree with whoever stated this, I never take Rosy through an automated wash! )
All this cash in repairing/refurbishing/upgrading, put the car away for awhile. You will just want another one, and you'll end up spending the same again, and more ( don't worry 'bout that! ). And, apparently, money not being an object, you are acquainted with a much better life, you will want something else exotic, and have the wherewithal to purchase it. I've heard that a Ferrari F-40 costs at least $10k, for just a TUNE-UP!!! The Lotus Elise has a reputation of beating you to death on a long trip. From what I've heard, what other car, for so little, gives as great a road ride? City, or long distance?
Mercedes, BMW? Boxy sewing machines. Yeah, there are a lot of aftermarket accessories and upgrades, they still end up as a box, comfortable, sure. ( My opinion )
As also stated, these exotic cars require a LOT of maintenance. When I bought Rosy, the radio and steering rack had to be replaced, and other items, maintenance attributed, were done. After three and a half years, Rosy was down for over a year, while I chased down a weird problem. And a lot of other maintenance was accomplished while the shark was down.
I have spent nowhere near the cash you have, doubt I ever will. I bought the car to drive, even after reading the lists' assorted reoccurring problems, bugaboos, scary stories, etc. I entered the "dark side" with open eyes, ready for all of it. Rosy has several minor scratches, and one rock/stone ding in the hood. The sunroof has scraped the opening. There are a few dings from previous owners. I may eventually have to paint Rosy, and that's when these things may get repaired.
For me, it IS the drive, and meeting all the various shark owners is an added plus, because the comradery and enthusiasm for these cars, has been invigorating!
I've told my daughter she is to inherit the car. THAT'S how committed to keeping this car I am.
I'm not in your shoes. But like everyone else, I urge you to keep your shark! Heck! Put it in storage for a whole YEAR!!! Out of sight. Drive whatever, then, REALLY think about getting rid of your Shark. Have Alan start it for you, if he will, once a month or more, to keep vital fluids fresh, battery charged, etc. Don't hip-shot this decision!

All,
I have thought about your feedbacks and want to thank you for all your support and positive attitude. I guess when i was young i never understood exotics as well i thought... we drove them, they got messed up and someone fixed them, we never felt it. Now that i am on my own and still in love with a masterpiece that is showing its age...sometimes it is hard and you're driven to the breakpoint (not to mention family nagging about growing up and work stress and all).
As i have thought more and more and listened to all of you, I think we share a bond -all of us- that is as special as our cars and the metal we love. I will keep my 928 and maybe soon add another, a GT. I think i need to start taking it easy and appreciating it for what it is and driving it more instead of having it on a hoist chasing jinns and gremlins. What makes things worse is that i am a perfectionis as Alan has testified, and I always pick the best colors Black with Champagne... easy to maintain
not really, but looks good.
I have read everyone's responses - and thanks for all that have expressed interest in Little Black Baby, i am flattered. I spoke with Alan Moore today for like 30 minutes, and it sparked inside me... i think i would regret it if i let go of her now... so i guess i will wait to get it back from the Body shop this weekend and schedule Dan to place a new TT and we are gonna do a lot of stuff to it... What's love.
Sincerely,
Khaled
