Default CS wheels: Tire advice

What would be best tires on original 928 CS wheels 8x16 ET60 front, 9x16 ET60 rear for a '87 S4 (without spacers):
- just go for the original 225 front and 245 rear (as for example this tread suggests)
- or 245 front and rear (as Tom M suggested in this tread). If so, will this make the car more tail happy thus needing an upgraded sway bar?
- or any other tire configuration? (such as 255/50HR16 Pilot Sport (Y-rated) on the rear ...?)

I'm not using the car for track, but street use including (high-speed) open desert-roads, and I'm tired of the appaling handling of the now wrong offset/too narrow 17" (911) front tires.

EDIT: I checked about the 255 (Pilot Sport? or Super cups semi-slick) tires. The diameter is 2.5 cm (1") more than the 245/45. It would lower the acceleration I guess, and could the extra grip be an issue for the diff...?
