Question Upper ball joint boot split on an S4.

Is it possible to just replace the boot on the upper ball joint on an S4? The joint feels solid, but there is grease coming out of the side of the boot. I've searched through the forum and have found that the ball joint can't be replaced without the whole arm, and also that the lower boot can be replaced, but I can't find anything on the upper boot.

TIA!

Yes they can be replace and I think at least one of the big three sells them. It's a boot from an Audi 5000S IIRC.

Hi John. I recently got my parts from 928 Spec for this job. Have not tackled it yet, but plan to soon. It's a $50 vs. $800 job. I chose the $50 option.

Here's an example of a proper ball joint seperator tool. It saves you from mashing the aluminum on the control arm if you are using pickle forks.

Heres a link to the website I bought mine from Ball Joint Lifter

Good luck!
