Plastic cap over the pump? The fuel pump is UNDER the tank by the rear bumper under a cover. On the top of the tank there are some vent hoses and fuel level sending unit.

My checkvalve went bad when I had this problem. Only happened when I filled the tank up though. Replaced check valve === life is good...
