I use a Porter Cable 2474 that you can get with an additional kit - free - at this link for $119.00, the best deal I could find.

I have a bigger Milwaukee, variable speed, but it's heavy and while it's good for new paint jobs to get them down to finishing level, I really like the PC, it's variable speed as well, and it's very light and easy to handle. (just drape the cord over your shoulder so it doesn't mark the sides when you're doing the hood or roof.)

I start with 2000 grit wet sand if it really needs it, follow with 3M Perfect-it II and finish with 3M Perfect-it Swirl Mark Remover. On the Porsche, I do most of the work with 3M swirl remover since I really don't want to take any chances, it takes a bit longer, but looks great and it's just time, not really work.

When we have a sunny day, I'll post some pictures of what it can do - I'm just finishing it up now..

Default Painting will lead to other expense...

When you update the paint the car will look new, but then you'll notice minor wear in the interior, so you'll update that, then any mechanical and electrical things that bothered you will need to be taken care of, then if the paint isn't perfect, you'll want that redone, then you'll notice after all that work, the power is not enough, then you'lll sit in a new car and want that NAV system, then, etc, etc, yada yada yada... You'll end up like me....

...and then you'll start selling 928 fenders with gills and no side markers to the community and it'll become so popular that it'll pay for all the modifications...

..............nope not me; once I get the paint fixed and install the SC I'm done. Then when I get my GT I'll start all over and when thats done I'll finally get the track car............then I'll need a bigger car hauler, perhaps a second lift in the 'barn' and more power tools.............I'm almost done

... then your wife or girl friend will not look as good to you any more... that mole on the left cheek will just stick out too much, then you'll split... she will sue big time and her attorney will tie up your business, you'll be sick over this, gain weight and can't fit in teh 928 any more... sell it and get a Lincoln... maybe the paint you have isn't all that bad?

If you think a good paint job for the 928 is expensive, wait until you price a refinish for the wife!!

Ernie everything about those models is expensive my brother. Even after you've traded them in.
