Default USA or Euro old body

I have two old body style 928s both MY 79, both are in poor shape. I plan to resurrect one of them for a fun performance car but I am torn as to which one to do this to. The Euro has all leather interior (poor shape), a sun roof, side moldings and full electric seats. The USA interior is shot and mostly vinyl, no sunroof, no side moldings. Any opinions on which one I should build?

Others will chime in about any US vs. Euro differences, my two cents is...

Evaluate each one for:
Dents
Rust (look under carpets for evidence of leaks)
Evidence of accident repairs (look for Bondo, paintwork, & uneven gaps)
Electrical condition (tricky tricky)
Glass condition
Existing usable drivetrain parts condition (i.e., one may have a nice tranny that you'd rather not spend blood+sweat+tears swapping, etc)

Got any pics?

I will take the best parts from either car for the one chosen.

If it's a toss up between the two, go with the US body. Not having a sunroof is a great option. It will give you alot more head room in case you track the car and you have to wear a helmet.

Definitely the non-sunroof body.

These older cars seem to get parted out quite often. Does anyone think these cars will be worth something someday? I'm tring to determine how much I should butcher the body in persuit of performance on the one I plan to resurrect

Use the US non-sunroof body, fill the rear marker light whole, use the Euro front Fenders. If any of the leather interior can be saved swap it over.

Not in my lifetime. 928 collectibility will probably be a combination of rarity and performance -GTS, GT, late Euro S 16v, early Euro S 16v, S4 5 sp, 86.5, etc. I'm sure there will be disgreement in my off the cuff listing, but unless you have something extremely rare or unusual I wouldn't own it under the premise of it having great future investment value.

Thumbs up for the non-sunroof body! After that, mix and match to get your desired final result...
Sounds like fun!

US no sunroof/mouldings, 5spd is def better IMHO than the sunroof, at
where abouts are you located? these sound exactly like my old twins

If you are doing a repaint, you might as well use the US body.
That way you can use the Euro body panels, and even the bumpers...
Swap the seats, and any other good parts.
It's also a benefit that the US car has no side moldings...

Rixter I'm in Charleston SC. I have owned the Euro for over 10 years but the USA only a couple of months. Both are 5 spd. Why use the Euro front fenders both still have a side marker light.

The US marker lights are hideous. The euro fenders will have the recess for a Euro marker light. Even if they've been drilled to mount US markers, that's easy to fix.

Rixter, now that you have the house... save the twins!

The dash and center console are perfect in the Euro but swapping the leather is not a good option because its red. I have only seen red in white body cars and I prefer to have a different color this time.
