no, i left that as is. I know there are coatings that help heat transfer, but I figure the oil splashing up underneath heating the bare aluminum of the piston underside is about as good as you can get really?
As far as boost the He!! out of it Brendan, not really. i think 10-12 tops. I think Murph has seen issues with cylinder trumpeting at some point in that realm.
just looking for an easy reliable 500rwhp...91 gas with out the spector of detonation rasising its head out here in the summer.
What do you guys think about the friction coatings on the bearing surfaces?Rod, main and thrust?

Now I am never one to stay with the "its best stock" type of response. You sure as hell all know that. BUt the bearings looked good on my 89, and even better on my 78 motor when I took IT apart. I'm not really concerned there. With boost I am concerned about the pistons and the headgasket.

The 12psi thing , as I recall, may have been detonation, and not specifically cylinder pressure at that level. They were into the stratosphere with fuel pressures, and 14psi, and the end result was a lean cylinder - from the fact of all 8 freaking injectors firing at once for one intake stroke. Scary.
