Call me old school, but I still like the original style radios......Can anyone tell me what type of radio was originally installed in an '89 S4? The window sticker just has "Radio CD player", but nothing about the model....Better yet, does anyone have one that they would want to trade for a later model SONY unit.
Thanks, JS

The original units are Porsche CD-1 for ROW, CD-2 for ROW/US market. I suggest you get a Nakamichi CD300 or CD500 which is stock looking (Matte Black with Orange lighting) and at the same time provide you with RDBS, MP3 and all kind of goodies. Moreover, you can upgrade your speakers and bypass the factory amp since the new systems are way more powerful than even the 6 channel amp from the factory.

Hi JS
I have the Nakamichi cd 500 and it sounds great and looks stock. Its a little pricy but worth it.

P.S the cheapest source for the Nakamichi cd500 is on Ebay, the seller is in Hong Kong, he is a Canadian guy who move here recently and is selling stereo equipment on Ebay to make some extra cash.
