A local 928 owner handed out a collection of 928 videos he created on dvd, and he's happy to let me share it with the community. The DVD contains some nice Porsche commercials for the 928, a video on the Holbert speed run in the 87 S4, a documentary on the development of the 928 (including many photos from the Project 928 book), and clips he amassed from a variety of movies that featured the 928.
I can create an image file of the dvd if anyone is willing to provide the webspace for Rennlisters to download it. The DVD is about 3.5 gigs, so this could easily consume some bandwith. An image file will allow anyone to either burn their own copy or "mount" the file as a virtual drive and watch it on their desktop.
I'd rather not convert the dvd to another type of file since it may degrade the video quality and lose the disk's menu features.
Anyone out there with the bandwith and space to host the file?

I suggest you to use a program called rat dvd which is free, with rat dvd you can trim the size of the file between 50 to 80% depending on the file, after is coded you can put it in a free hosting and after the people downloaded the file they can use the rat dvd to decode from rat dvd to dvd again, program works really good and again is free.

Has anybody looked into the new DiVX 6 format? Somebody at work told me that they can integrate menus, etc... into it. Perhaps that is also a good comprimse? Smaller space, and menus.
Either way I would love to get my hands on it.

I'm not familiar with converting to DiVX, so right now I'm limited to either zipping the file as-is or creating the ISO image.
I'll try zipping it to see how small it'll go.

You could also use dvd shrink to reduce the size of the file. However, you will lose quality quality if you try and play it on larger screen.
