Hmm. I think the Toyota conversion is cool. There ought to be a kit for it, not that I'd ever do that to my car.
Someone needs to install a V12 in a 928; add a good exhaust....I loose my mind!

Kind of interesting watching the fortunes and developments of the auto industry. Twenty years ago you wouldn't be caught dead even considering a Japenese transplant.

Problem with V12 engines: only Italian V12's make any power, & they're $$$$$. German & English V12's were not built for power, just smoothness.
Sad, it would be cool as hell if installed in a 928 & made power....

MarkRobinson Stock Toyota & Lexus V8's were not designed & constructed for power or boost like the 2JZ. If you lowered the compression to 8:1 & ran up 22psi with proper management, I would be quite surprised if it held together for more than a few dyno pulls. Custom rods & pistons are cheap for this conversion considering the grand scheme of the work involved: I'm sure they're mixed into this conversion if indeed he's getting over 600hp.
You can pretty much double the HP on most non-crap V8's with proper compression/boost/engine management. Bust asking a 3-fold on a stock V8 is a time-bomb for sure. I'd bet he's done his homework & have custom rods/pistons in there for anything over 600 or so.

but you still cant call that motor a toyota anymore. its custom everything. outlaw class is one of the best.
now he must have some cash to do that. looks like he has spent a lot of money on that kit car.

As per the kit car the aluminium one is good upto 800hp and from then on they use the cast iron one that comes in the Landcruisers.
As for putting a V12 in our cars, haven't we got enough on our plates already with maintaince and other performance agendas, I think N/A 6.5 liters is plenty!

Mark, you must not be familiar with the twin-turbo Mercedes V12's if you are making that comment.

I think what he meant so say was no non-Italian NA V12's make any power. Wait, who makes Lambo's V12 now?
After riding in a '95 S600, I can certainly attest to the smoothness.

Let me restate with higher accuracy: Italian V12's were designed for power. Some German V12's were designed for power (AMG for Mercedes, not BMW or non-AMG Mercedes). Now I'm not talking about indy motors or anything too fancy, given the whole topic was putting a (an affordable) V12 into a 928.
And, a Lamborghini V12 has it's inflated value (& power) due to it being mfgr'd for Lamborghini, regardless if Audi owns them.
