Normy's Answer to Randy's icon...
Sorry about the dust on the hood....
Well, I'm proud that the cocos nucifera reflected symbolizes south Florida, even if they aren't native. Randy's hood reflects a palma washingtonia , which is probably the most durable palm made [there is a documented case of a washingtonia surviving in southern....OHIO!], and is native to southern California/ Mexico.
Yes, I recognize all the dust on my hood; the wind was bad that day! That, and well, this car looks great from 8 feet away, but when you actually examine the car...you realize that you are looking at a very cheap respray that has been carefully maintained.

AH! Mr. Blair, it is an honor to have you here! I wasn't aware that you are a 928 owner! GTS, no less! Had Dave Roberts turned you to the Darkside? Love your work and still get your catalogs.
Not sure if I ever personally thanked you (though I think I had) for the personally signed art work donated to Sharktoberfest 2004. If not, thank you now for your generosity!!!
Dave...that looks liquid!!!

IMHO, the palm reflecting in Randy's hood looks much more like that of a variety of Phoenix palm, there are several that are popular. That one looks alot like either a Reclinata or Canary Island date palm frond to me. Without seeing the full tree including the trunk, it can be difficult to know for certain. Phoenix palms have also seen many hybrids from crossing varieties too, which adds to the fun.
Now I know there are is much more of a variety of palms down your way than mine, but everything I've ever seen on those types of palms, I've not ever seen a Washingtonian shown like that. I do have about nine different types of palms in my yard, including several Washingtonians & 10 Queen Palms. But, like with a 928, I'm always up for learning more & something new!
Ok... so much for my .02 on palms
The pics in order
Reclinata
Washingtonina(Mexican) Fan Palm
Canary Island Date Palm
Coconut Palm

The honor is all mine. Thanks for the kind words about my art.
I'm conspiring with Dave on a new painting for SITM, as well as several new shark posters, that I think everyone's gonna like...
