Wasn't it a design study from an art school in California?

Many people are "sick" of retro cars. I cannot understand why, some older cars have a lot of style, but lacking technology to make these cars desirable today. Why not offer an updated version. I mean, the 911 is the ultimate retro style, damn thing hasn't changed much since the 60's.

I think there is a big difference between specific retro cars (Miura, Mustang, Challenger, Beetle) and generic 'retro-style' crap (SSR, HHR, PT Cruiser). The 'retro-syle' cars are pretty much blobs with big chrome grills. I don't mind the PT Cruiser because it was the first of the retro styled cars. The HHR and SSR are hideous. The retro versions of specific cars are for the most part very cool. The Charger is probably the worst of the group, but it's styled pretty well even though it's not very Charger-ish.

... and the car looks too cartoonish.
EXACTLY! It looks like a Japanese cartoon character!
The car hardly looks functional!

I appreciate that most car designers realize that they have lost touch with innovative design in modern day. It seems they feel the need to grab/resurrect the spirit of what made the automobile such an icon. If you've noticed, most cars today look more alike than ever...Mercedes to Kia! Seems the manufacturers are so afraid to come up with a "new" design, that they follow suite ripping each other off. The "retro" cars they are attemtping to "re-invent", HAD the uniqueness and DIDN'T look like the other cars. I guess it was a time when auto manufacturers had *****! (Which is probably when Porsche decided to design the 928)

As far as Lamborghini is concerned, I find this absolutely amazing that they have joined this parade of clowns. The Muira was a fabulous car...and still is. What can possibly be gained by re issuing this car?!?!?!

On another note, the 911 is a car that has evolved, not a car that brought back to life from an era gone by.

MHO....the only retro car worth talking about is the Ford GT.

Not quite....the new Beetle was the first car to kickoff the retro styling. Everyone else followed suit.

Just history repeating itself. Wasn't the original Miura designed off the original GT40?

Obviously FlyingDog wrote before the pix of that hideous Camaro concept came out. I like 2+2's and, imo, they had the look perfect at the last one they sold. Too bad they never gave it good underpinnings, but I presume they didn't want to compete with the Vette.

To some extent, imo, that's an inevitable byproduct of increasing knowledge and efficiency. Any optimally efficient package for carrying X number of people is going to be shaped a lot like any other. Look at general aviation, where aero rules.

Oh God I wouldn't say that at all. I have Italian family, more proud of Miura original styling than Michael Angelo's paintings!

There was a recent show on Speed where the Miura was recently featured as one of the top supercars of all times. Mainly due to originality and innovation in design.

Thanks Chris. Yes the lower vents seem to be for brake cooloing. I was referring to the upper vents in the top rear quarters

Cold-air intakes most likely... that V12 is gonna need LOTS of air.
