Phone Dials on a S4?

Thanks Hack...PD mods will be no less than 9", no more than 9.5". Tires should be able to stretch to the beads at that point to create less side wall flex. Should be a very cool thing if I can bring all the sources of the universe together.

Keith,
When Todd made my wheels he took 8 PD's, cut them all in half, created like a tongue and groove with every pair that was to be mated up. Fitted the pieces together then welded. Unless you look real close, you cannot tell. The weld bead is on the outside anyway, so one could have a lot of fun with these wheel's at a PCA club race. Most people outside the 928 circle would probably buy a story that 928's had "special" wide PD's.
I was in a slight argument with two PCA officials who insisted no 928's came from the factory with brake cooling ducts - this is why they were horrible track cars. At a different event they couldn't find the battery.

The 928 Phone Dials will fit S4 front brakes with the use of a ¼-inch hub centric spacer. The wheel gets a little thicker across from the valve stem. With out the spacer the wheel will rub the caliper only at the location across from the valve stem. I also have sent my Phone Dials out and had them cut in half and widened to 9 inches in the rear. Roger and I put my front PD’s on his 89 S4 and the wheel rubbed. We then placed a ¼-inch spacer on and the wheel spun free with no rubbing

I had them widened at Wheels America in Dallas TX. The cost was around $150 per wheel and they supply the donor wheel. I also had the wheels refinished at the same time.
