I want him to get another car so he would be more willing to come back over to my house to work on MINE!!!
PS: If anyone is really interested in that kick butt green colored one (I too love the green). I live close enough and have garage storage I could pick it up for you and hold it until you can get it or arrange to have it transported.

As an '84 or an '85 it would be Moss green, looks to have the green/grey interior as well. I am not sure with 928's but with all 944's had a ZZZ chassis designation it did not get its replacement till it passed federal regs/customs. I am also not sure what year the rear AC began but it is missing in this car from the looks of it.
Looks to be a sunroofed car as well. Hard to tell really. I could take a look at it over the next few days as well if someone wants me too. Just let me know.

I'm supposed to call the guy tomorrow morning about seeing it tomorrow afternoon.
I'm guessing it's a Euro with rear end damage and it's a lot easier to find a US bumper cover. It has Euro marker lights and H4s. The H4s I could see an an upgrade to the pitiful H2064s, but no sane person would cut holes for marker lights unless mandated by law. I'm hoping the seats aren't trashed, but he did avoid showing them. The door panels look good and the dash has at least 1 crack in those pics.
Michael, I think all Porsches have ZZZ chassis numbers since 1981 or 82 when the new VIN format was started.

Matt,
With all the work you have done on your Euro, why give it up?

It's a green/green 85. The only thing better would be a green/green 86 (big brakes, bigger dual exhaust). It's not that I don't like my car. I would just rather have the green one if it's as good as it looks on the auction. If I'm going to upgrade one (Bilsteins, sway bars, O-ring fuel rails/injectors) it might as well be the one I'd rather have to keep. If this one hadn't come along, I would gladly keep mine and put the work and upgrades into it.

Lessee... odometer failed in 97, maybe only 150-175K miles on it by now?

While we are talking about "problematic" cars, I wanted to share a thought.
928s are the greatest cars if we just have a small bit of patience, but also have experience with them. When they die on the side of the road, many times the issue is not to panic and call the tow truck (unless its the belt), and then get the wife mad at you for buying "the damn car" in the first place.
This 85 euro didn't start one day. I charged the battery, and charged the battery, then hit the starter with my angry english wife turning the key. Nothing, not even a click.
Think: Why would a car not even click? The starter gets no power right? Why no power to the starter? The starter isn't getting the signal that you are sending with the key. I jumpered the XIV relay and boom, car started like it always did, with about 2 revs.
Two days ago I am going to an appointment, and the car dies going up a hill. Time to Panic? Nope, I call the customer and say give me 15 minutes (because I know I can walk if I can't fix it in 10)
I am still starting the car with a bridge between 30 and 87 on the starter relay, so I try that just to see. Quick starter revs, no start. Engine bay, check temp 2 sensor that I resoldered - nope, its all good.
I stare at the car for 2 minutes, and then the interior for 2 more. I bridge the fuel pump relay and the car starts perfectly.
I'm now early for my appointment.
Moral? Take a 928 apart a few times, and then when you are ready to drive one evey day, make sure you tear that freaking relay board out and put in a 15 channel aftermarket wiring harness for 300 dollars. Seriously. The older cars are only going to get more and more finicky, which will **** you and others around you off. Circumvent the problems totally.
Anyway, For this thread, if something seems too good to be true, many times it is. Othertimes its opportunity meets preparedness, not luck. Luck is dumb.

Brendan,
Well put.
BTW, are all 'euro-brides' hotheads, or just the ones that come here?

Brendan, That might be the shortest most concise explanation of what being a 928 enthusiast is all about. Well done. I bet everyone here can in some way directly relate to what you said.

I don't know the answer to your ? - It seems there is more of a depth of emotion, in all directions. In this country, I feel we are taught more stoicism, and we learn to isolate before we absorb.

Thanks guys. We'll have to see if my science, applied, works when the 78 hits the street with all the percieved bad habits torn out of the car.
