LH Rebuild quality
Hello all,
as some of you know, my LH died on my last trip to Vegas.
I was very fortunate to find (with the help of DR) a company that carried rebuilds and had one in stock: 20th Street Auto Inc. in Phoenix, close to where I was stranded. I was back on the road the next morning.
But now, I'm looking to the future. The place where I bought the LH has little information as to the quality of the rebuid. The case as a sticker that reads: Rebuilt by Fuel Injection Corp. but I can't find any information on them.
Does anyone know these people. I just want to make sure that the LH as been rebuilt with updated components.
Thanks
Paul

Thanks for the info guys.
I don't know where these prices come from, but that's not what I paid for it.
I paid $850 including a $100 core charge. With a 1 year warranty.
Thanks for the link Rixter. I see that these guys are in California. That's strange since the guy at 20th Street told me that his rebuilds came for a local guy.
I still don't know if I should trust this rebuild or not.

I wish you good luck -- your mileage may vary.
I've rebuilt several LH modules that were previously rebuilt by this company. I cannot say how long the units failed following purchase because my customers were not the ones who originally purchased the rebuilt units.

Hey Rich,
do you rebuild LH units for 20th Street in Phoenix?
I thought of you when they told me a local guy was doing their rebuilds.
Also, my original LH, had a number ending by .11 which is correct for MY 88.
But the LH they sent me carries the number ending with .13 with a note saying that this supersedes .11
Is that correct?

No, I don't do work for 20th St. I have no idea where they source their parts.
I normally have a spare LH ready for emergencies, so drop a line if you have a problem.
There are many small differences between the various years of 928s. I can say that there are differences in calibration that change over the years, and also Porsche upgraded dignostics capability from 1987 to 1988.
I always use the same calibration ROM for rebuilds to ensure that the LH meets the requirements of that year model. As far as I know, you should have no problem with the .13 version, which is for a MY 1989 - 1990 928.

Thanks Rich,
I actually looked for your phone number when I was stranded, but could not find it. I was about 70 miles south of Phoenix and 20th Street was the only place that could get me the part the same day.

There is an emergency road side "contact" list for sharks owners, put together by a fellow rennlisters for that purpose (being stranded) alone. Help when you need it. Its been awhile since Ive seen an updated list and for the life of me I cannot remember who put it together. (That reminds me I need to find out where I placed it as well)> Maybe a fellow sharkster can shed some light?.
Merry Christmas
