Default Now is this cool or what? (cooler!)

We just finished this "beverage of your choice" cooler modification for an 87' S4. It is an electric cooler that is custom painted and leather covered to match the interior and installed in to the rear area of the hatch. The straps are attached by velcro and the cooler can be removed in seconds.

But that's not all...it has it's own power supply that will keep it powered for 4 hours after the vehicle is shut off without taxing the vehicle battery at all. It is recharged by the vehicles charging system once the car is started. The aux. battery system can also be useful for charging up cell phones or whatever you can dream up with a cig. lighter plug. (up to a 15 amp/1hr limit) It is installed behind the tool tray where the jack is normally stored by most people. This car doesn't carry a spare anyway, the subwoofer takes up that space.

H, we can do one in black leather for you...

Default 928 Leather Refridgerator

Ketchmi...
So you're saying...the refridgerators' baterry / power supply, can supply itself for 4 hours....(without significant (or any) Vehicle Battery drain)..., and be used to charge cell phones, MP3 players, etc.. .with a Cigarette lighter connector available to plug into the leather refridgerator ?? The photos of the refridgerator do NOT show..where you plug 12V accessory items in. Show me more...I'm intrigued.

It is gorgeous.

Is it over kill? Yes. But he likes it.

Steve can't even type he is still shaking after that emotional orgasm....Almost makes up for the lazy roofers. I bet if we built houses, we would do a damn fine job, but it would cost a fortune.

Thanks,

Garrity

OK...
I followed it...I see a power supply to the unit. I just don't see where to plug some thing into the unit to charge from... or run off of. Thats the way I guesss I interpreted the sales pitch.

OK... I think I am following this now. Is the charging Cell phones etc. claim, in reference to...1. the refridgerators battery pack "charges" up, during normal vehicle use...2. Since the refridgerator IS plugged into an auxilliary 12V Cigarette lighter socket (mounted in the rear tool cover during installation)... the claim is, ...you can plug you IPOD,...MP3 player...etc. etc. into the 928 OEM Cigarette lighter socket....and the refridgerator's battery pack / power supply, will supply this "load" for 4 hrs. or so....with NO current drain on the cars battery ?? And with the ignition key ...OFF ??? Sorry for the PITA questions... I am intrigued by this offer, as I too...have an OLD time 12V refridgerator/ heater. (Stuff thats warm...is kept warm, if that position of the switch is selected vs. the Cooling position).

The aux. power supply is wired to a cig. lighter receptacle mounted in the tool cover. It will supply enough power for the cooler to last about 4 hours at a 3.75 amp draw. It will supply about 15 amps for 1 hour or 1 amp for 15 hours. It is ignition controlled and disconnects from the car's system when the key is shut off. When the car is restarted it reconnects and recharges the batteries. It keeps it's charge if nothing is connected and like stated before will work great for charging cell phones, laptops if you have an inverter or DC power cord, Ipods, MP3 players or almost anything you want to charge without effecting the car's battery. I'm sure I could set it up to run multiple items but it is a limited power source and will be used up more rapidly if you hook everything at once to it.

H, if you can't afford a new X-over this is way out of your budget...I'll figure out pricing and post a photo of the aux. power system tomorrow.

I'm sure we could do a more cost effective unit but in this case the cooler done with color matching paint and leather, the leather straps w/velcro and the leather rose's made into the rear deck carpet were not cheap. Our leather craftsman is a true artist and charges like one.

For those interested I may be able to be talked into selling a kit for the aux. power supply alone. You use whatever cooler/accessory you want and do the mounting yourself and I'll make it run. The hardest part is running an ignition lead to the back of the car to disconnect and reconnect the aux. system to the charging system.

Guess the power supply won't have enough juice to fire up
a blender.
Daiquiri's anyone.

That is why you buy a gas powered blender.
