Thanks for tightening that up.
I have a 1979 and a 1980 - K Jetronic.
I'm focused on a loud exhaust note and not focused on HP gains but i definitely don't want to lose any - low end torque is more important more so than high end torque.

I think the set up i want is:
-H straight pipes
-muffler delete
-cat delete
-megaflow muffler

To your thoughts if you can kindly comment on:
-needing a resonator to keep "back pressure"
-ECU adjustments required

Thank You.

No, backpressure does not make more power.

K-Jet / CIS doesn't have an ECU. There's an adjustment screw on the fuel distributor to add / subtract fuel and you simply turn the ignition distributor to add / subtract timing.

After your upgrades are all finished, IMO it's worth the money to find a tuning shop, strap it to a dyno and dial things in for air / fuel and find the happiest base ignition timing.

I know you said no to headers, but the SS manifolds from the 85/86 32V are a worthwhile upgrade for these cars as a cheap alternative.

Here's a comparison that might interest you. The 81 and 79 are my cars. Notice how the 79's low end torque is actually higher than the 86 with a completely free flowing, backpressure free exhaust.

The 79 & 81 also have different camshafts (stock for their model years).

I have got the best sounding exhaust and the engine was perfectly tuned. EVERYONE LOVED THE SOUND OF THIS CAR inside and out.

Going downhill, grumble and explosions. mean sounding and screamed at the top,

BUT IT'S A EURO! a fast one

I wouldn't think you would want all that attention in an early car. and where is the post about sounding like a pickup truck.

In the thread I mention we all talk about early 80s and euro cars, I also have example pictures of my system in there. I thought k-jet and euro was obvious but point taken, I have edited my earlier reply for clarity...
