Default FORD SIERRA RS COSWORTH VS PORSCHE 928, from a Magazine

I was just Browsing on Internet today an I Found a Quite Interesting Comparision note about the 928 along with the ford sierra, I am from Argentina and I used to have a ford sierra and a ford escort, those cars are made totally different than the ones here i remember my 88 escort gt had a audi v6 engine, the body is totally different there than here same as the sierra, for some reason european cars in different countries are different even if they are from ford or Chevrolet, there is 1 car and was the fastest car i don't remember exactly the year but was made in argentina and was called Torino GT (not the same like the torino model sold here) and that car was pretty similar in mechanics as the 928.

Nice article, Thanks. It is basically compairing two cars that can be purchased for 12K pounds.

The images are JPG format, right click and choose save as then open them in paint and ZOOOM!

Verdict

When you consider that all 12K pounds will buy you new currently is a 1.4-litre Escort both these cars are amazing value. The Porsche must be close to setting an all-time record fot the most high-tech, high-potency, bomb-proof, top-quality engineering you can buy for the least amount of money. It's one of the worlds all-time greats for ______ ? But do not underestimate how much it costs to look after such a car. The 928 has depths of complexity you don't really want to visit too often. Those who have been there call it the money pit.

The Cosworth is no shrinking violet but it does look surpsingly weedy parked next to the 928GT. In most other ways, though it makes more sence for the money. All right, its a Sierra, it has a Sierra's interior - with Recaros - and the wing is faintly ridicalous.

But so long as you keep youur wits about you its a fabulous thing to drive, much cheeper to run and rising in value. Practical too, with proper rear seats and a big boot.

I believe that is Bob V's site. I was talking with him a couple of day before that came in, he was very excited.

FWIW Bob's a great guy to do biz with.

It certainly is Bob's site.

I saw this car when he got it in - very beautiful.

Driving a right hand drive car in North America .... is it as difficult as it looks?

I remember almost getting crushed in a near miss in Kazakhstan - lots of Japanese right hand drive cars there where everyone drives on the right. We went to pass a large truck and almost were hit by another going the opposite direction.

I would love to have a "real cosworth". matter of fact I would probably trade my 928 for one. Just one of those cars that you just have to have if given the oportunity.IMO

Yep the 25 year law sucks if you want those kind of cars, as for RHD I have seen several now. I have driven LHD cars in UK and RHD cars in Europe ... no biggie. But I am sure you get plenty of strange looks over here from other drivers !!

The Cosworth was a great car - I had a sierra 4*4 cossie for a year. Quick but lacked our 928s' quality of engineering. I remember taking mine to Germany to max it on an autobahn - cruised at 150 for nearly 200 miles. The windscreen wipers bounced all over the screen, I though the bonnet was going to tear off and I shagged the front discs so badly I had to get them replaced out there. And the car was only three months old! Did the same in the GTS two months ago and discovered it's true vocation - high speed cross continent cruising - and it's 10 years old. My only complaint was the noise - you need a big stereo to hear anything above the tyre roar at 150! And that's with all the extra sound proofing the GTS has.

PS that was an indicated 150 in the Ford - more like 140 in the real world I suspect! It was an overt optimist!

mean? Apart from that looks to be v. nice motor.

Various English police forces had examples of these Cosworths, I read a statistic once that within the first year they were all destroyed in accidents not involving other motor vehicles...
