The rain rail will remain except where the corner of the roof and side of the car meets... to totally remove the rail was costly.

I'm curious to see what this looks like when finished. But where will the rain water go, when it comes up from the windshield, and tries to move back in the channel between roof and rain rail?

I had similar questions, Nicole, but I chose not to post them.

We are not supposed to drive our Porsches in the rain anyhow.

Actually, Vescio's (body shop) wanted the rain stuff removed from the car (windshield washers, etc), but I most likely will ride the car in the rain... the gutter bends towards the door (downwards) and will most likely spray in some downward direction. Since the car will not be driven in the rain unless caught in it, it should not be much of a problem.

Man...I'm sorry, but this is just plain dumb. No wiper at all? Have you ever driven in the rain without the wipers? It happend to me once (not in the 928), it was scarriest and dumbest thing I ever done. I've read some wacky stuff on here, this is has to be right at the top. This is worst that deleting the head lights. At least you can plan when night fall.

He said washers, not wipers.

We will have wipers and window washers (the washers will move because of the reshapped cowl induction). I eliminated the power wash (never used it in all 7 928's I've owned) and the headlight washers as well as the rear blades are gone. The front wiper blades are not exactly good looking, but I don't know anyway to easily make them look better.

Default Updated Mod Photos today...

Note the fuel cap work, the fenders which are about 2 1/2" further out, the steel rocker panels replacing the plastic S4, the rear fender flair, the seam be gone at the roof and no sun-roof. Also some shots of the new cowl induction shape which is less Camaro-like.

Nice work! I like the fuel door a lot.
I like how it keeps the stock cap intact,
just adds a nice looking cover on top...

The flares look smooth and clean too.
It will be nice to see it when it is all back together...

Looking good!

How did they fill the seam/channel between the roof and the rear panel? Did they weld in a plate or just fill? Seems like a big area to just fill? (Can't tell from the photo if it is bare metal or has been guide coated).
I'm thinking about doing the same on mine.

Thanks

They welded a plate... they do good work, don't they (the shop won just about every award at teh World of Wheels last year... and reasonable to boot!).

It's pretty amazing what they can do with cars, given enough time...

Rick: Do you OWN this body shop?

I don't own a body shop, but it looks like fun, at least with those guys.

It's definitely an interesting blend of art and craft...
