Default GTS engine in a early body

Has any one installed a complete stock GTS engine and fuel system in an early body style? What should be a reasonable price to pay for a complete engine with ECU and harness?

Probably double what the OBcar is worth...prior to the investment in these parts...which you won't ever...ever...get back if you ever decide to move up the food chain to a newer model.

A4sfedS4;

A shop in SanFran finished such a project, their name is Akkurate. Speak to George or Jim. They did a bang up job.

Also, I know of a low mileage GTS 5 spd motor that could be had for $4-5K.

if you had the driveline out of a wrecked GTS i would buy a new body from porsche. it may cost more but at least you will always have a GTS and not a hybrid

some of us like hybrids i have only just had completed an entire driveline swap from S2 to GTS including auto to manual conversion as well. i dont think there is such a thing as a reasonable price for a GTS engine but $4-5k US sounds good.

A good running GTS engine with computers.....$4-5K minimum....probably more...then the install will be quite a bit more on top of that.....and you have a custom one off 928 that might poise problems to repair later on...

Another idea....find a EURO 4.7L engine....ideally an 85-86 LH engine + computers....that would be ideal for an OB

Scott -
Just to be very clear, Jim and George did interior and stero work ... I did the engine and install in that Blue Euro!

Dyno'd at 321 rwhp with stock exhaust.

Marc;

Suffice it to say that Jim and George put the final touches on it...

GTS engine = many more HP
more HP = need bigger brakes (like GTS brakes), more robust drive train - trans axle, torque tube, etc. (like GTS)

So there is a lot to say about having a GTS chassis to put the engine into - or put a lot more GTS parts into your old boy.

The Koenig car engine isn't stock GTS per say, it's an '88 block with a GTS crank, modified GTS pistons and 5.0L rods, and has early Worldwide 32-valve cams (85-87).

I didn't do the install of course, but whoever took this car to the Koenig bubbas ~13 years ago must have had a suitcase full of money...

Sorry, but I don't know what 'reasonable' would be in this case.
